Or they could combine them and release it in theaters. Which would make the most sense in my opinion.

    That'd be even more pointless.

This argument doesn't convince me, wouldn't they have done the same thing with the animated All-Star Superman ?

Urg. I wish I was excited about this, but I can't do it. I've wanted this ever since I first read TDKR, but seeing that list - after adapting Year One, they're adapting Tower of Babel, then a Busiek story, and then TDKR - all I could think was, "Remember when they almost always told new stories in DC animation?" People loved the DCAU because it told great stories that nobody else had done before. I like an adaptation here and there, I really liked Under the Red Hood and Public Enemies, but don't make it the only thing, you know? Crisis on Two Earths was a semi-adaptation of Earth-2, but it was original enough to stand on its own feet, and I loved it. That should not be the exception.

So... I'll watch this when it comes out, but in the meantime I'm way more excited for GL:TAS, because it'll actually have some surprises.

IIRC, he has said he's getting too old to continue doing his classic Joker voice.

Convenient, then, how DKR Joker is a much older Joker...

If this was like 5-6 years ago, I'd be really excited, but now I'm incredibly burned out on Frank Miller's Batman.

It's probably a smart move to spread it out over 2 movies.

I agree, though I think it counts for something that at least they put out good movies one after the other, and many of them are pretty great, unlike Marvel who just downright sucks at everything animated.

Hulk Vs was great, so was Spectacular Spider-Man, and Avengers is one of my favorite shows right now. DC has had more high quality animated shows and movies, but I don't think you can completely discount Marvel.

DC's adaptations are mostly decent, some of them are really good even, I just wish there was more variety, not just one adaptation after another.

The only good thing about that one was Deadpool, and the storyline with Thor was boring "Hulk Smash" for basically an hour.

I can agree with Avengers though.

Agree to disagree, I thought Hulk vs. Wolverine was the better of the two but I still enjoyed Hulk vs. Thor very much. Great animation. Hulk Vs was really just a series of big fight scenes, but I love it for that.

Have you seen Spectacular Spider-Man? Best Spidey I've ever read or seen. Fantastic designs and animation, distills all the different parts of his history perfectly into the teenage years, brilliant voice acting, insanely well-written.

I don't think I have, is that the classic Spider-Man cartoon or is that the new one that came a few years ago ? The one that was "sorta" 3-D.

You can see why I didn't call you on that one.

Yeah, I figured that if you hadn't called me on it, you hadn't seen it, so I figured I'd spread the good word.

It's neither of those. It went for two seasons starting in 2008, before being unjustly canceled when Sony lost the rights to Spider-Man in animation to Disney. The 3D-ish one you're thinking of was the MTV one from I think 2004. This is different, it's 2D.

They're better off using money meant for theatrical releases on products with some crossover appeal. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns is a project pandered towards one specific group of people, as these films always are.

So you don't think it would do good in theaters? Cause I would bet money that it would do amazing. Firstly its Batman, secondly its an amazing story. Crossover appeal? You mean like the Dark Knight Returns book that is already made?
