Action Comics by Morrison and Morales - I want.
Anyone who thinks DC is bringing back the Silver Age doesn't know what the Silver Age is.

All action packed? With Superman running non stop?
Well, it's surprising, but the man's mad enough to try it.
Nothing really new besides that (i wonder what's that "obvious" take on the Superman/olsen relationship), but I'm sold anyway.

Oddly enough, this sounds kind of like Smallville circa Seasons 8-9 and a bit much of S10. Perhaps that's why it doesn't sound that new to me. I am intrigued, though, and I definitely prefer when Morrison talks about his own work.

Grant Morrison is the reason I needed to pick-up a SUPERMAN comics again..
I can already see all the ACTION COMICS paperbacks alongside ALL-STAR, and my children and grand-children will understand this way why pappy was fond of these illustrated..

It'll be by Morrison, so it will be good. That should be plenty new for you if you're used to Smallville.

    Hey Mr. Morrison:

The marriage damaged the dynamic of Superman comics quite severely, but if we broke up the relationship of these two great fictional lovers, Superman would immediately seem ineffectual and ultimately beaten by his foes, walking around for the rest of his life not knowing Lois was ever his wife or whatever.
    Sound familiar?

I could be argue though that , since he is starting from the very beginning, the fact he is not with Lois is not a defeat but merely a victory he didn't achieve yet.

I think Smallville was better than people give it credit for. When I hear echoes of its narrative choices being integrated into other mediums, and I consider the millions more people in the Smallville audience than the comic book audience, I feel confident with any assessment of the show as imperfect, but also innovative and compelling in many respects.

Furthermore, I wasn't complaining about the newness of the concepts in Action. I was simply saying I feel like I've already seen a version of some of Morrison's ideas on Smallville, and so it is a reference point for me. I don't expect Morrison to copy it so exactly for it to feel like a rehash.

    QFT.

Yeah, lots of stuff there just reeked.

On the other hand, it pushed a lot of buttons. And a lot of people liked it.

Nothing wrong with keeping what they did right and tossing what they did poorly.

But that's not what they're doing. They aren't breaking up the relationship, they're restarting the story at a point before the marriage.

If Robin and Marian aren't a couple at the start of a new Robin Hood movie or TV series, nobody says they took the relationship away or broke it. They rightly assume the story is starting before they met and watch the relationship unfold.

This is the same thing. It's a new start, so the characters aren't where they were beforehand.

OMD took something away from Spider-Man and left what was supposed to be the same interpretation of the same character who had gone through all those experiences behind. This is a new version of Superman starting a new story.

John Byrne's Superman came to Metropolis and met Lois Lane for the first time after Crisis. Now Grant Morrison's Superman is coming to Metropolis and meeting Lois Lane for the first time after Flashpoint.
