"We can fight all day, Sunfire. But I still won't belong to anyone- but myself. And it's been a while since I've been able to say that."- Polaris, X-Men #187.
Imagine what it feels to be an Emma fan.I am a fan myself, but sort of feel helpless with Lorna to begin with.
Emma has also been corrupted by the Phoenix. She's not herself. I don't see any reason as to why there should be animosity between the two after this. Lorna has been pretty much the only X-Woman who hasn't be antagonistic towards Emma. When Emma said Lorna should leave the X-Men after it was confirmed she was depowered in X-Men #179- Lorna was never bitchy towards her back, but calmly said she was 'unnecessarily cruel, but right'. (not that I agree that she should have left).
I do hope Emma lives.

I wish we had some idea as to what happens to the X-Men who are not in favor of the merger with the X-Men. I can't see Magneto and a bunch of others going along with it. If Emma lives she might be among that group. The real question is if they give the X-Men who are against merging have their own title and if they are split into two groups one still calling themselves X-Men and the other something line the Acolytes or the Brotherhood.
I would have expected Marvel to mention that by now, but then there are definitely a LOT of characters of which we don't know where they'll be after AvX, and some of them like Emma and Magneto are such well-known names that they can't just disappear without a trace.
Also, the fact that the next X-Men film will be based on Days of Future Past has been out there. I'm trying to figure out if there's a chance of Lorna being in it, and how she might be used. The fact it's a storyline set in the future means they could just completely bypass adding new characters like Lorna, and bring in old and well-known ones instead.
Hopefully the November solicits which should be out next week or at latest the week after will give some idea where the X-Men opposed to merging with the Avengers are going.
As for Lorna I would say going with the Days of Future Past storyline is more likely then not bad news for Lorna as it increases the odds that Fox will use this to build up X-Men they plan to be in the film franchise beyond the FC part of the franchise. It isn't that Lorna has no chance to be in the film, but odds have diminished significantly.
They already stated only one new character will be introduced to the FC trilogy - someone to oppose Magneto. I doubt Lorna is that character, but that doesn't mean bad news for her. It's also possible that she WILL be introduced. Think about it. Xavier thinks the only way to defeat Mags is his own daughter from the future? She gets brought back in time with them, hooks up with Havok, and they have Scott. Plus, there's the parallel with WatX cartoon.
Further more, there's always the third film coming out, and the New Mutants project (which won't involve most of the comic version New Mutants, I guarantee). X4 and X5 have been alluded to / spoken about publicly. There are plenty of chances Lorna could pop up in film. Her name DID appear in X2 after all. Positive thoughts, people.
*Sigh of relief* Just checked, and yep... Polaris is still Magneto's daughter. Dodged another bullet.
I always found the X-Men films to be dull and fairly mediocre overall. They were good enough as action flicks I suppose, but there's not really any reason to watch them again, and they didn't do a good job capturing the spirit of most of the characters or the flavor of the setting properly. If Lorna shows up in DoFP, she probably won't even have her trademark green hair, it wouldn't fit with the washed out color palette of the rest of the movie series.
I remember that the theory presented on why Havok is about to get such a promotion to Avengers is because the X-Men films have him in them as a major character. Under that theory, if Lorna was going to have a big role in the next X-Men film, she should have been announced as part of some major group that they want to hype up a lot as well. Since that hasn't happened, the natural conclusion I end up coming to right now is that Lorna won't be in the new film, which is disappointing because that's more of having to watch Marvel and Fox throw away a gold mine.
I'm not trying to be a bring-down, I'm just noting what I would expect based on the theory of why Havok is about to get so much promotion after just as many decades cast to the sidelines as Lorna.
Fox barely consults Marvel for their films. If they are using Lorna, Marvel probably won't know until it's included in a press release from Fox.

That's oddly a lot more reassuring to me on the possibility of Lorna being in the film. Marvel keeps underestimating Lorna's worth, which leads me to believe that if they had any level of input toward Fox, they'd be steadfastly against any possibility of Lorna or any other underused character with loads of untapped potential being in X-Men films. Meanwhile, Fox allowed First Class to have characters like Banshee, Darwin and Havok, characters that most of the general public didn't even know existed before the film.

Nobody knew who Banshee, Darwin, or Havok were after the movie either. Ditto for just about anyone in that movie other than Xavier or Magneto, not even Emma Frost really made an impression on anyone just because Jones' performance was so terrible. Really, the movies have done an exceedingly poor job showcasing the massive roster of mutants, and I doubt that Lorna will get a good showing if she does in fact show up.
All of the rumors on that site are quite interesting. I would enjoy it if Fox created a rival cinematic universe involving the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and Daredevil, if done well.
