Things have been building up slowly, but surely for years now. But with her return by Mike Carey to Legacy, the cover to X-Men Legacy 255, knowing that they will likely be dealing with her backstory, and now Polaris Week interest the character hit a sort of critical mass online that I have never seen before either.

I'd like to see Mike take on Polaris and Havok for awhile. Lord knows he needs to leave Rogue alone for awhile. She's such a snooze fest lately.

She is closer to looking the right age for Lorna in say X-Men FC #2, but she is missing a bit of an edge to her role I think Lorna needs for the role. Eliza Dushku has the look in my view, but she is getting too old to play a late teens/early 20s character.

That would be really fun! Havok and Polaris are both solid characters with a multitude of connections, they would be perfect muses for X-Men: Legacy. I'm ready for a change in that book anyways, Xavier was fun and so was Rogue for a little while...now it's too much.

We know about Lorna's mother in the House of M and given the reality was based on the 616 reality only altered in certain ways by Wanda I think there is a good shot that we might see her again.

No real details from the mainstream MU, but HoM offered the character Suzanna Dane as Lorna's mother.

I don't think Polaris has ever been this popular on CBR.

Polaris fans might not be so numerous, but they do post a lot. I have to give them credit for making me like her more than I did before (I think I even gave her 2nd place in X-Men listing as result). I am pathetic poster albeit as I am more quiet reader person.
