Boy, they're pretty determined to pretend that movie didn't suck.

No ride beats the Spider-Man ride in Universal Studios Orlando Florida. And noe coaster beats Hulks Coaster either!

Those 2 are pretty great and some of the best coasters out there IMO (and fairly limited opinion) but depending on which Six Flags you go on there are better DC rides plus things like Kingda Ka which is amazing.

Finally rode Hulk two weeks ago, and that is seriously an amazing coaster. That little twist they pull in the beginning where they blast you out before completing the initial climb is awesome.

I like the oath written in Interlac. A nice nod for the truly nerdy.

I don't think that's the only reason why they're making this rollar coaster. Flash hasn't had that much of a lead for the outside public in years but Six Flags still has that Flash Pass thing.

Given the amount of time it takes to build a ride at a theme/amusement park, the two are not directly related. The fact GL got a movie, and the fact there is a GL ride built are probably both to do with the popularity of the comic right now.

The Gl ride was essentially a different 6 flags coaster Chang moved to GA and then repackaged/named the Green Lantern coaster. This was all around 2010 when it was known that the Gl movie was coming out.

In 2008 they opened up "The Dark Knight" a coaster obviously timed to open with the movie.

So whether it was intentional or not it will be seemed to be opening as part of the Gl movie franchise, and even if they had the idea before they knew about the movie their marketing has certainly heavily cross-promoted the idea.
