What's it like?
Do I need to read the other UXM stories or is Ultimate War pretty much self-contianed. I've read some of UXM but I don't want to get Ultimate War if there are other plot lines continuing through it.

2000-2006: Golden Age of the UU
2007-2009: Age of Loebotomy
2009-2011: Post-Ultimatum Era
2011-????: Silver Age of the UU
It's more or less the rising climax of Mark Millar's UXM run. It would be better if you've read the first six or atleast the fourth to the sixth tpbs to get the full story. Like I said this is the rising climax and it sets up the actual climax The Return of the King.
...And does Mr. Goddanm Batman says so much as ''Thanks''? OF COURSE not. That'd hardly be GRIM AND GRITTY, would it?
The jerk...
-DKU's Jim Gordon.
If you're familiar with the Ultimate X-Men then you can read it without having to read any Ultimates. Even if you're not familiar than you can still enjoy it as a stand alone. One of Millar's best stories in the UU.
1) Find a bad guy
2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!
At the very least, you need to read the Return of the King arc after you finish War. Ultimate War is a great action book, but the real meat of the story is in the follow-up arc. Return of the King is probably Millar's best story.
Naturally, though, all of BKV's run is better. So is Bendis's second arc. Wolverine12 doesn't know what he's talking about when he says otherwise.
I like Ultimate Comics. - Read them with us!
I also buy: Captain America, Avengers, FF, New Avengers, X-Factor, among others
