Love this book so much. Still it also serves as a reminder of what Marvel books used to be and what they are so far from being now. Fun.
Not sure we really got much information from this -- other than I suppose the Unity Party is doing something to the heroes to get them to be the antagonists (and with Heather and Kara, I still think I'm on Team Strike) -- but hopefully it continues to whet the appetites of people who aren't yet buying the book.
Q: What's the difference between Gary Cody and Stephen Harper?
A: Cody has a beard and isn't crosseyed.
On a less political note, however, I really enjoyed the first issue of AF. The script was loaded with amusing Americanisms (Cody referring to his government as his "administration," for example), but it felt like a real return to classic '80s superteams in general and the Byrne era of AF in particular. I'll probably stick around for the rest.
Alpha Strike are awesome, but Alphans with guns ?? ..ouch.
I'd have loved so much to see them helped by the Children of Night and a new Nemesis..
" Things are going to slide in all directions "
Leonard Cohen - The Future
Has he been seen since Marvel 2-in-1? Other than that appearance, I'm not familiar with him and this certainly is a better design for the character!
Ranark has not been seen since he fought Alpha Flight and the Thing way back in 1982. Kudos to the creative team for remembering him.
This is a great series. I love reading it and feel like a kid again to be excited about Alpha Flight.
omg! fvl writing taskmaster again! alpha flight with guns! a new government sponsored team! this creative team is really nailing this series!
only complaint, whoever drew that variant got guardians helmet all sorts of wrong.
Looks sharp. Besides the guns, the new team shows promise.
Unless those weapons are there simply to keep them from being killed off en masse by some writer's swinging... pencil. Enjoying the raw art quite a bit.

Stay pressed
Gonna go with the surprise member being Talisman. Really don't like the name "Purple Woman."
Please resurrect Wildchild.
READ SNARKED!
If it was Talisman, AF would definitely be in trouble... But then I have no clue as to why she would join the team other than to spite Shaman.
Of course, it won't be Talisman. Clearly the surprise member is Thunder, Major Mapleleaf's magical flying horse. He blames Alpha Flight for his partner's death and is out for blood and hay.
