They've asked us not to say "reboot" because, especially on the Bat books, it's not a reboot. The things you love about Batman's history are things we love, and we don't want to mess with that. It's really about having a fresh new start for the stories we're excited about.

Snyder really has been the most spoken Bat creator who has been trying to calm the masses. Good for him.

    - Dick's story isn't getting any changes, Snyder is telling the story he wanted and he feels despite Dick going back as Nightwing won't change the impact that he's telling, which is Dick settling in as Gotham's protector.
    - He laughs how terrified he is about #1 so much that he had to ask Lemire, Daniel, Simone, Tomasi and others to just chekc his script and whatnot, you know he just wants to make sure he's on his A game.
    - Daniel and Snyder are talking and making sure their plans won't collide with each other.
    - He keeps reassuring that this isn't some reboot because of an upcoming movie or to make Batman more hip and cool, funny tho i gotta mention he doesn't dare to mention his mohawk Riddler with riddler tattoos. :p
    - He feels Capullo was born to draw Gotham.

If Synder was writing this book I wouldn't be getting it, just because of the renumbering money grab that DC is doing...But 'damn it' he's a good writer.

The brief time I was able to talk with him at C2E2 this year, he came across as a consummate pro and he was definitely excited with his work on the Bat-titles. Snyder is a star in the making here.

Great interview. I'm glad to see Snyder has everything planned out. I'm looking forward to his Batman #1, and more of his Black Mirror arc

Do you mean if he wasn't writing the book?

I like that he's stressing that Grant's work will still matter and that some of the changes will be on Grant's shoulders. I think we'll see Dick's final appearance as Batman in Inc 10.

The big change outside the story itself is the fact that "Haunt" and "Spawn" artist Greg Capullo is going to be drawing the book, and I'll admit that I was somewhat surprised that he hasn't ever worked on anything outside the McFarlane stuff.

Greg Capullo drew X-Force and Quasar for Marvel before leaving for Spawn. Not to mention his own Image book Creech.

    Nice research though...

It's funny that he and Simone are amonst the Batman writers to speak about this.

Snyder seems to be a really intelligent writer. He knows where to go with each beat. It all feels very planned. Same with American Vampire.

Its hard to explain it. I guess I would call him a "technical" writer.
