20 years ago, my parents bought an old farmhouse in the middle of nowwhere about 100 miles northwest of Toronto as a weekend/holiday escape.

It sure ain't the Hamptons, but my kids love it. We can walk around the property, look for frogs, garter snakes, salamander painted turtles etc... in the marsh and just do all the stuff kids should do.

We're trying to fend off the world of video games and the like for as long as possible but it is tough once they start seeing what kind of gadgets their peers have.

Sunday was a lovely day and we collected wildflowers for Kat and both Logan and Beatrice giggle hysterically as a caterpillar crawled on them.

Clearly, from the evidence above, LR had no problems at all with his young daughter getting a tattoo.

Heck, he may even have compelled her to, to satisfy whatever sick cravings of his own.

Canadians ... they absolutely baffle me.

My kids are a bit obsessed with temporary tatoos these days.

I blame the Blue Jays organization - as the put them on all the kids as part of the Jr Jays promotion for Saturday day games.

That's a rather risque mermaid on her arm. It has started to fade with bathing, and looks like something out of a Tim Burton movie now. Logan has a cobra on his wrist. I wanted it on his chest of he'd look like Dr. Steel.

Yeah. Riiiiiight. It's the baseball team's fault.

Worst of all, I strongly suspect that this is all being carried out with Kat's consent & perhaps even connivance.

    I ... I just ... I'm ... I simply don't what to think.

At the very least, this morning's shocking revelations certainly cast a new light on your little aside from yesterday --

Can't really pinpoint what happened - just constantly up and down off the floor with the kids.
No doubt much screaming, squirming & blinding, white-hot pain was involved. And not on your side of the equation, either.

In fact, the photo above obviously shows Logan wailing his head off in terror as he clutches his horror-dazed little sister to his side in a vain attempt to protect her from the depredations of Daddy & his tattooist's needle.

The power of being a moderator has obviously gone to your head. You think you can get away with anything, to the point that you harbor not a single reservation about leaving the telltale tracks of your crimes in plain sight for a shocked world to see.

That ... or I've been watching too many horror movies & reading too much true crime lately.

    Still, photos don't lie, LR.

    Photos.

    Don't.

    Lie.

I'd say that would be that country gal covering "Purple Rain". If you like Prince's song even in the slightest you can here the attrocity of this song. Go ahead youtube it. I dare ya. It's like the Donald Sutherland scream.

But yes, I agree, the intentions of some songs far outweigh the pleasant melody.

I don't much like "Purple Rain" (as opposed to the vast majority of the rest of that album, which is one of his best) to begin with (not surprisingly, so-called power ballads are not my thing), & if I heard a country version ...

... Well, I don't think the results would be pretty, what with the blood & stuff that'd be splattered all over the place after my head exploded.

What did you think of the movie, if you have seen it dan?

I enjoyed all the album. Probably one of the first and still most enduring albums that I listen to from start to finish.

Of course I have to take the ipod off shuffle.

I also watched Elvira last night after many years since seeing it the first time, I thought that it was still good for what it wants to be.

I love country but there's a lot of atrocious country covers out there. Janis Joplin should rise from her tomb and bitchslap Faith Hill for her gutless, chirpy cover of "Piece of My Heart."

Love Neil too. I've seen him a few times, one of my favorite shows was when he was backed by Booker T and the MGs.

Other favorites include Los Lobos, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Springsteen, Loudon Wainwright III, Harry Nilsson, Frank Sinatra (particularly the Capitol years), Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I like Big Band stuff too, especially Benny Goodman as well as New Orleans type stuff.

There are so many bad songs it would be hard to pick the worst, but the one that always has me flying towards the radio dial is "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton. Just awful.

And speaking of bad, my kids are both heavily into Star Wars at the moment and they were watching a bit of Phantom Menace the other night - holy hell, but I had forgotten how brutal that movie is. What a disgrace.

    Thanks Andy.

Yeah - Neil is great live. I first saw him in '87 and as recently as '08 or so.

The Dead never played Toronto, nor Montreal during the stretch I was interesting is seeing the ('89 through '94) so I made trips to Buffalo and Albany. It was always a fun experience and I am glad I got the chance. Pearl Jam seems to have developed a similar following these days. I saw them a few years ago, and was surprised by the type of crowd.
