Maybe if people viewed contraceptives, and even abortion in an adult manner there would be fewer unwanted children born with crippling, painful, and disfiguring disabilities, addicted to drugs, and left to spend their lives in poverty with absolutely no hope for the future while being cared for by people who don't love them.

I'm pretty sure Jim was trying to say that if a woman can't afford to support a baby, she could be 'persuaded' to have it then give it up for adoption.

Which ignores the fact that giving a baby up for adoption is actually more psychologically damaging than having an abortion. And the fact that carrying a pregnancy to term is more dangerous than having an abortion.
