Not the same thing since clinics are run by individual doctors who set their own hours.

The hospital system in ontario is screwed up because of a former head of the ontario government.

I've been to at least eleven different doctor's clinics in Tallahassee (most affiliated with my HMO) and none of them have been open 24/7. Even the Urgent Care clinic operated by my HMO doesn't open until 7 am. If it's really urgent here, you go to the hospital.

We've got a number for an out of hours doctor who, should we need them, means we have to travel a little further, and, sometimes (not always) have to wait a little longer to be seen, but that's only because at night they're responsible for patients in a wider catchment area.

So at the moment if I've got a problem in the night (like we had with Charlie when he was much younger) I have to drive 20 minutes to Redditch hospital where they have an out of hours clinic, rather than the five minutes drive to the doctors surgery.

I don't usually stray into this thread, but wanted to point something out.

Putting aside the fact that Limbaugh is a giant douche and his apology was a lie, the whole "birth control should not be part of healthcare" spiel is idiotic and shows a fundamental lack of understanding of sexuality, reproduction, birth control, and even the definition of the word "health."

For starters, sexuality is a part of health, period. Any type of sexual act, abstinence included, has an affect on health. Ejaculation is healthy for the prostate in men, sex releases hormones and endorphins with various actions, etc etc. I suggest Rush go read a goddamn book on the matter(I have, as my mom is an OBGYN).

Secondly, birth control does not just prevent pregnancy. An anecdote(my wife is gonna be mad at me for this, but oh well): my wife has hashimoto's thyroiditis. Essentially, her immune system is constantly attacking her thyroid and destroying her metabolism. Her metabolic rate is now entirely dependent on medication, and we have to have her thyroid tissue biopsied every so often as there's no normal tissue left and there's a risk it'll turn cancerous. Here's the thing when it comes to women with hashimoto's: one of the crippling side effects for females who suffer is absolutely crippling menstrual cycles. As in, not even being able to get out of bed and screaming in pain bad. My wife has to take birth control that completely eliminates her cycle, or else she'd be unable to function 5 days or more out of every month. I dunno about you, but that sounds like a goddamn medical necessity to me.

In conclusion: f&ck you' Rush Limbaugh. Leave what health means to actual doctors, you sentient turd.

    PUTIN ELECTED

    FRAUD AT POLLS

HE head of the major international election observer mission in Russia says there were "serious problems" in the vote that returned Vladimir Putin to the presidency.

Tonino Picula said in a statement today that "there was no real competition, and abuse of government resources ensured that the ultimate winner of the election was never in doubt."

Picula headed the short-term observer mission of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

A brief synopsis of the mission's findings did not address Russian independent observers' contentions that there were widespread cases of people casting multiple ballots, but said the election "process deteriorated during the vote count, which was assessed negatively in almost one-third of polling stations observed."

The Central Elections Commission says Prime Minister Putin, who was president in 2000-2008, got more than 63 per cent of the nationwide vote, but the independent Russian elections watchdog Golos says incomplete reports from its observers of individual polling station counts indicate he hovered perilously close to the 50-per cent mark needed for a first-round victory.

The OSCE observers' conclusions may have significant bearing on whether Russia's opposition forces will be able to maintain the momentum of the unprecedentedly large protests they were able to marshal in the past three months.

A protest rally has been set for this evening on Moscow's Pushkin Square, one of the central city's most iconic locations. News reports say some 12,000 police and troops will be on duty to ensure order in the city.

    What's the difference, exactly?
The words in Dutch (hospitaal, kliniek) are complete synonyms, and my English dictionairy isn't really helping here.

Size and breadth of care, primarily. Here, a clinic tends to be specialized, or small general practice. Hospitals are large, and offer a more comprehensive suite of medical services, as well as facilities for long term care.

Pretty much the same here too.

Sometimes a clinic is known as a doctors surgery. I can imagine the use of the word surgery could be also confusing for those people whos first language isnt English.

Doubly confusing when you have a clinic WITHIN a hospital.

QFT. When my wife originally went on BC, it wasn't because we were trying to prevent pregnancy, that was just a bonus side effect of the drug. She has issues with the extreme nature of her cycle, as in it lasted for weeks and caused her quite a bit of pain. Not nearly as extreme was what Jared described, but the point is she was put on it for medical reasons.

And honestly, if you object to BC for moral or ethical reasons, fine. Don't take it or use it. But don't expect the rest of the population to suffer because of the religious minority.

At this point, it gives the Religious ones a way to slut shame, and it give Republicans a way to say, 'Obama is a bad president, pee pee, doo doo'.
