Rivera and Martin are great artists.
Top 10: Hawkguy, GIJoe Cobra, The Massive, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Fury MAX, The Black Beetle, Batman, Winter Soldier, Suicide Squad, and The Activity.

The book is iffy for me. I think all the great DD stories have been told.

I completely disagree, their stuff is boring. They had some of the worst runs on ASM. Rivera (I think) draws EVERYONE looking Hispanic. Also the ears are too low and sticking out on every character

    Lark's DD can't be surpassed.

In 30 years of collecting comics, I've never once bought a single chase cover. But if there was a special Gene Colan cover to DD #1, I'd shell out the bucks for that. Alas.

I'm excited for this series. I wish Waid were writing a new Superman book over at DCnU; I've been waiting for all the excellent stories I'm sure he as for Superman for years. But I'll take him on a great character like DD. Good job by marvel. This should be a great and fun book.

...Waid noting how Wacker said that Spider-Man "looks at Daredevil and sees the hero he wants to grow up to be."
While I understand what Mark Waid is trying to say in that Spidey looks up to Daredevil, doesn't that comment in and of itself reflect the downside Waid himself pointed out about Daredevil's early years, in that the comic was "a Spider-Man book without Spider-Man?" In other words (and I could be mistaken about this) but it does seem to appear like the new direction for Daredevil IS to make him another version of Spider-Man.

EDIT: Not that I don't understand the feeling to make Daredevil into a swashbuckling, fun, adventurer giving how dark his series had become over the past few years and taking Shadowland into consideration.

I wasn't super excited to read this...Spider-Man should admire Daredevil, but it's not like he hasn't been fighting crime for even longer and has gone through the wringer himself a few times. I don't really think Spider 'looking up' to DD is the right way to go for either character.

yet another pointless #1 and renumbering of the series. how many times does this make? Marvel keeps showing their contempt for their audience with these gimmicks.
I don't think anything, other than another run by Ann Nocenti, could get me to pick the book up at this point.

    We clearly hate our audience.

Which is why we spend so much time with them.

The book's gonna be good. that's all that matters.

We can argue about whether or not a relaunch/renumber is ever a good idea, but after Bendis and Brubaker and Shadowland, I wouldn't say signaling a clean break and fresh start (to whatever extent) is pointless.

This will be the third DAREDEVIL #1, I believe.

Yes, the '80s were great. But just ignore all the renumbering and whatever else and just look at those preview pages. Marcos Martin is reason enough to at least give this book a shot.

I'm off put by the art, and everything Mark Waid is saying as far as Murdock goes. As scared as I am of the possibility that this is horrible, I'm also a little anxious because there is a lovely little bit of me that swells in the idea that what Mark Waid and Co may be about to deliver something insanely beautiful.

This book is just gorgeous. It's seriously the best-looking book Marvel is publishing.

I don't know how fast Paolo Rivera can do his pencil work(considering how little he's done) or Marcos Martin either, but I pray there's no fill-ins and these two supremely talented artists can keep doing their thing. This shit is amazing.

How does Daredevil hear that woman's butt?

    Is she letting one rip?

I like Mark Waid's ideas about integrating Matt into the MU more but the whole take on how Matt is dealing with all his drama reeks of an insane amount of repression going on.

I think Nocenti sort of had the same idea with Matt committing to becoming DD full time to forget about his Matt Murdock troubles and all that ended up doing was making him even nuttier.
It will be interesting to see how long Matt can keep up this facade.
