Default CBR: Abnett & Lanning Revive "Resurrection Man"

Writing duo Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, also known as DnA, spoke with CBR News about the return of their cult classic title "Resurrection Man," part of DC Comics' line-wide relaunch in September.

    This looks interesting.

Makes me sad that it'll be cancelled very quickly.

I've heard so much about the first serie that I'm glad DC included such character in their new line (..hope R-MAN isn't too shadowing with XOMBI though), so this will be an instant-buying for sure..

DnA onto the Great Lake Avengers sounds also now almost like an evidence, always though this team could be Marvel' Doom Patrol..

I picked up the series a while ago but never got around to reading it, so I started it in anticipation of the resurrected series.

My 2 non-story highlights so far:
    1) The editor needed a caption box to explain what GPS was.
    2) In the letters section, nearly all the letters are signed with everybody's personal e-mail address.

I really like the concept so I'll definitely give this a go, although I didn't pick the original series the interview made it sound as if this was a good jumping on point for the character (after all the reboot is about people picking up new stuff).

I mentioned that Hitman sequence when pushing "Resurrection Man" in the AICN @$$holes discussion of the post-Flashpoint DCU. Of course, I remembered it incorrectly, but whatever; the original book was pretty great, especially the resurrection of The Forgotten Heroes.

After reading this article and recalling the nanomachines that would bring Mitch back to life (as opposed to him being a neutral between Vandal Savage and Immortal Man) and with the upcoming ending of the Xombi book, it makes me wonder if there is a connection between them.

More Resurrection Man is a good thing. Definitely looking forward to it.

.. and Butch Guice too??? Tell me why this team is not producing an A-lister. Got love for RM, but seriously.. Butch &$*$*ing Guice? They should be headlining. Put this team on Batman.

This was really my biggest 'squeee' moment of the relaunch, the announcement of this book.

It's not necessarily the book I'm most excited about, mind you, but it's just so UNLIKELY, and it's a book I loved and a character I've been clamoring for for years. Stuff like this, Frankenstein, JLA Dark, and Stormwatch doesn't just excite me, it makes me feel as though DC reached into my dreams and pulled out my fondest desires.

The ONE downside to this is that we'll probably be losing Xombi in favor of it. I understand why -- frankly, the power set is a good bit more dynamic than Xombi's - but I wouldn't have minded switching out DnA, the original creative team (who I'm sure will do great on this), for John Rozum.

Oh well, as long as DC gives Rozum a healthy amount of work that allows him to flex his big concept muscles (ie, not Static Shock -- give him Green Lantern Corps or something) then I'll be happy.

Guice isn't drawing this. Dagnino is drawing this.

Guice drew the ORIGINAL 27 (+ 1 million issue) series. Or most of it, anyway. He's the co-creator of the character.

AWESOME! This is the only DC reboot title that I am giddy over. The original run was brilliant and so much fun! Would be cool if they collect the first series in Omnibus format. Love DnA!
