The only change in coloring was done to the cover. The mistake they made is: (and I quote)
and worst — they printed the color from corrupted, out-of-focus digital files, completely obscuring all of Richmond’s hand-painted work.
But off course, if that's a change you like, by all means, buy the book.

DC is replacing the misprinted Absolute Kingdom Come books, need to contact the retailer you bought it off for those in the thread who received a faulty copy.

Ok....looks like I need to send my friends at the Amazon support another mail.

We're not BD, you need to ask them.

I'd say no as why would a book missing a page be worth more than one that has the whole story. It's not a first print so it's not the original either.

The intention from the link I posted is that the retailer rips out page 104 or whatever the page is with missing print, sends it to DC who send back a whole new printing of KC. They want the book destroyed after you rip out the page but(and this is a big one) some retailers may keep the book and sell it for whatever they can get for it, thus making a bit of money. So really it could go for very little and be popular as a cheap way of getting an absolute but up to a certain price point $15-20 you might as well buy the trade/new Absolute copy as you won't have a missing page and you have the whole story. Just a guess, they could mak you send the wholebook back in that case it's redundant and the missing text copies are worth zilch.

    So far I own:
    All Star Superman
    Dark Knight
    Hush
    Long Halloween
    Justice
    Watchmen
    Crisis On Infinite Earths

Finally Flashpoint reset everything to start afresh as it were.

From what I've read, going back to an earlier point, basically everything that was pre Flashpoint never happened. Or this is what it appears DC is trying to say without insulting it's fans. So really/technically there is only Flashpoint in terms of continuity, but the other events can be read just might get a little confusing as there are also lead ins to events and other year long stuff they did in between(Countdown,52, other stuff I can't recall).

I'd pick up flashpoint, then check out Infinite/Final Crisis trades and see if you like them. If you do there's Absolute Final Crisis coming, along with Infinite Crisis Omnibus.

Also this stop the stories being good either, most of DCs best stuff is in Absolute or Deluxe HC so if you're picking up something in those formats it's going to be more likely to be good than grabbing a trade. Gotham Central is one that's not in either but hopefully it's only a matter of time as its an amazing read.
Thanks! Yeah DC seems to have a generally different approach towards continuity than for example Marvel (from what I've heard). Actually I've been eyeing Infinite Crisis, so it's good to get a confirmation one's on the right track.

I thought about chasing down the Gotham Central HCs, but since some of the volumes are difficult to come by, I might as well wait for them to be collected in some other format. Kind of what they're doing with Morrison's Batman.

Yeah, DC pre New 52 had "multiple" worlds in which stuff like Millers Dark Knight happened, just not on the main one. So they accounted for all these different else worlds tales like DKR/Kingdom Come etc in continuity. Unfortunately it ended up being very messy(multiple earths etc)hence the crisises and then total reboot. Though I see their introducing Earth 2 soon in nu52 so maybe it's all coming back, who knows.

Gotham Central has recently been rereleased in trades, worth picking up in the interim. Haven't seen any indication they'll deluxe it but who knows with DC.

The latest Gotham Central TPBs include ALL the issues, unlike the previous set of TPBs which did NOT include all the issues.

I wish DC would be more open about what they are releasing instead of just announcing it out of nowhere.

On that note, dccomics.com updated and the new comics page is pretty neat. It's nice to be able to filter by graphic novels and also search. I will miss the handy week by week release lists though.

Some European publishers seem to do that, especially Panini in Italy.

They have published an Uncanny X-Men Omnibus 2 already (a book US X-fans have been clamoring for for years) and a Warlock Omnibus (which is also not even likely to be published in the US).

So, let me get this straight... We're NOT supposed to buy it because of a color mixup on the COVER?

As others have pointed out multiple times now, DC also chose to use out of focus files to reproduce the interior pages instead of using and enhancing whatever page files they used for the last printing.

So if you want poor quality reproductions of the interior art... in oversized form!... then this might be the book for you.
