Plus its not as big an investment to try out if you've never read the material before.
I'm pretty sure if The Invisibles was divided into three $50 books there would be people saying they were way overpriced, but overall I can agree with you that I prefer books to be a bit smaller.

On the DC side of things, I think the second and third Flash Omnibuses are about perfect size. They're big enough to be worthy of the title omnibus, but still easy to handle. I'm really glad we didn't get all three Flash Omnibuses in one huge $200+ behemoth Omnibus. That would have probably been way too large, unless they were printed on ultra-thin paper, and no one wants that.

Also, event books like Infinite Crisis work really well as a larger omnibus. If it were put into an Infinite Crisis omnibus and Companion omnibus (like Marvel does sometimes) it could work, but the reading order probably wouldn't be as fluid. That's something that I really like about the Infinite Crisis Omnibus, or I guess I will when I get around to reading it.

About the Flash omnibus, why was the first considerably shorter than the rest? They didn't want to interrupt an arc?

Also, just read the ohc of Scene of the Crime that image just put out. Originally a DC title by Bru, Lark, and Phillips! It was quite fantastic, really clever, and didn't expect the end. You can really see where he goes with Criminal from here. Also, being 4 issues, it took me an hour and a half to two hours to read it.....I wasn't really counting but it was a nice long read

I'm not the least bit mad. I just feel sorry for people that miss out on great fiction simply because they're trying to be contrarian. "Everyone else likes Moore so I just won't read his work because I want to be different." Sadly this happens very often and I don't want there to be more victims of that backwards thinking.

Did anybody read the IC omnibus or Invisibles omnibus on their lap? Is that even possible? Or did you have to lay it on a flat surface? And is there a lot of glare with the IC?
Unless they put two 750 page books in a nice slipcase at each release.

Really tempted by this, but wasn't 100 Bullets getting an Absolute treatment soon too?

Well they would be wrong. I'm happy as long as its around $10 per 100 pages, oversized and sewn binding. Its good value and provides a worthwhile benefit that is worth paying extra over possessing the trades. Is it really different having to pick up another book to read the rest of the story, the reading order would be unchanged. just make it a two volume set that follows directly on. Or chuck a slipcase on it as that is peanuts to produce and creates the appearance of a premium product.

I think its cool to see these massive tomes on the shelf, but they are for reading and the bigger they are the more impractical they get. Its not a lot of weight but holding it for an hour is a heck of a forearm workout. Its why Absolutes are not 1000 pages, its just too unwieldy.

See from this post on http://forums.comicbookresources.com...1#post16226805 (It does finally get around to discussing the potential absolute from here http://forums.comicbookresources.com...1#post16227717).

That's not what I think at all. It's just that I can't read everybody's work, all the time. It's not that I haven't read Moore either, because I have, it's just that I like Morrison better. It's a legitimate opinion. And to tell the truth, you are being incredibly condescending. Apparently, people who don't like Moore as much as you are just trying to be different, devils advocates. Or, you know, they really just don't love his work (I do, not as much as Morrison).

*goes to the thread, sees talk about 100 Bullets, clicks links*
Other series deserve absolute/deluxe treatment more.

The Marshall Law Hardcover is up to £32.29 on Amazon UK now, taking bets to see if they honour those made earlier.

Ditto with 100 Bullets it seems.

100 Bullets Deluxe Vol 4 is still mispriced on BD UK. Coming in at €14 for me, so ordered straight away. I'll let you know if they cancel it.

I can't speak for everyone, but anyone I know who's ever ordered something from Amazon with as largely discounted a pre-order price hasn't received it for that price, here in the UK. It could very well end up cancelled.
