Uh Oh - does Plawsky have the power to ban CBR News

Plawsky is going to need to ban CBR itself because the spoiler is on the front page of the website, I don't understand why they would do this. I mean we didn't get a preview but apparently giving away THE ENDING is okay.

Well i think it's nice to have a topic for people who read the article or wish to discuss the spoiler, so here we go, i'll put in a tag just incase someone stumbles onto this topic:spoilers:
I'm not sure how i feel about the idea of legacy Spider-Man, particularly because if Peter is his Uncle Ben, then thats just gonna mean references and flashbacks possible heavy amounts to talk about the previous Spidey, and this is just gonna get the new potential readers and current readers just scratch their heads and ask: Why can't i read about this guy?

It's still gonna be interested who is the new Spider-Man, is it a clone, is it a girl posing as man, it can't be Human Torch or Ice Man, so who would have the emotional connection to feel honoring Peter and becoming a Spider-Man? See that really only leaves Gwen Stacy unless Peter's death inspires someone whom he didn't really know, so you build that connection from there, so it's pretty much stepping into the big boots of a legend, much like Kyle Rayner did by becoming *the* Green Lantern withouth the Corps, likely the new Spider-Man will have his rogue gallery and supporting cast more or less, so it's just a question is all the reference and flashbacks to Peter going to be worth for this new guy, if it truly is a new person.

Regarding the issue itself, i do like Bendis idea how it completes the circle, you got the 1st villain of Spidey, you got the motivation and you save the family and friends you loved.
    end of spoilers

    Thats my thoughts.

But its just the Ultimate Spiderman, not the real one. If the ploy is to get non-readers into the shops to buy "collectable" editions (after all, this is 1991.. no wait, it isn't lol) then those hoardes of shoppers will be a little confused that Spiderman is dead and yet Spiderman is still alive - only people that are already reading the comics know or care about the difference.

Lets see them kill off the character they are most known for for good, or at least longer than Superman died. That'd be ballsy

Exactly. The mainstream media will be like, "They killed Spider-man! Oh, wait. No they didn't. This is just some alternate universe version. Nevermind." And if they don't pick up on that, any new readers lured in to check this out will figure it out pretty quickly.

now i understand what its like to other fans when their fav characters are killed off

    dear ultimate wolverine fans.

I'm just laughing that Bendis found what he wrote in that scene worthy of tears.

    Get over yourself, Bendis.

    i like bendis but AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I was going to pick up every book but now that i think about this i really don't care about any of the characters anymore besides Hawkeye. This was such a cheap move

So, they actually did it this time.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it's nice to have a definitive story of Peter Parker as Spider-Man, from the very beginning to his end (till they bring him back, of course). On the other hand it would work much better as the end of Ultimate Spider-Man. Add epilogue and this is it. No more stories about Spidey.

Bringing a new character who is basically using the legacy of the previous one as a way to make readers follow his adventures is rather questionable move. Sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't. Personally, I'm not sure if I will be interested in a new Spider-Man, whoever it will be, because the main reason I loved USM was teenager Peter and his problems.

I will give a new hero a chance, but I already hope that Bendis will bring Peter back to life.

I haven't read the article, but it's is just one character. USM going forward still has the same writer and probably most of the same supporting cast.

But they could also do something like at the end of Ultimatum where they revealed Peter was alive in Ultimate Spider-Man: Requiem.

The epilogue is the Ultimate Fallout mini.

    Release Schedule

Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #5: June 22, 2011

    Ultimate Spider-Man #160: June 22, 2011

    Ultimate Fallout #1: July 13, 2011?

Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #6: July 13, 2011?

    Ultimate Fallout #2: July 20, 2011?

    Ultimate Fallout #3: July 27, 2011?

    Ultimate Fallout #4: August 3, 2011

    Ultimate Fallout #5: August 10, 2011

    Ultimate Fallout #6: August 17, 2011
And if Peter really is dead, I hope they won't bring him back. Otherwise they would just cheapen his dead and make dead in the Ultimate Universe less believable then it already is

So far as I'm concerned, stories like this are what the Ultimate U was made for. You can kill off Iconic characters there left and right and see where the story will end up going! I'm a fan os this even though I haven't read any ultimate titles for a while.

    Dadgummit! Why?!?

I've been avoiding spoilers all morning, and CBR goes and spoils it with this thread title.

it's a jumping-on point for me. never quite liked peter parker, spider-man. this bit of news might be confusing for the casual non-reader though, who might be thinking that the upcoming movie will be about a comic book hero who's already dead.
