According to panel attendees at NYCC, they're holding back the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes until 2012 so that they can build a "Marvel Heroes" programming block with the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

So that's why no Spider-Man in AEMH - he's getting his own show.

Plus, when they were developing EMH's, I believe the rights for Spidey's TV appearances were held by Sony. So Marvel couldn't use him for their own projects.

That's a huge bowl of suck, but I can understand their reasoning in it. Disney needs to get back the licenses for the cartoons on Nicktoon. It makes zero sense for those shows not to be on Disney XD.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

...You know, I watched all of Season 1 in a week just two weeks ago, partly because Season 2 was to be starting up this month. And I also happened to rather like what I saw. So you can guess my reaction to this particular piece of news.

Holding it back even more? That's a shame - why not just do what Doctor Who did with its current season and break it up in halves? I was totally looking forward to Season 2, as well.

    Dang.

So this means my long-time dream of an animated "Thanos Quest" and "Infinity Gauntlet" will be pushed back as well.

    @news:

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE!!

God... I hate when they do this crap... Holding stuff back...

I'm not sure it's worth it either, since the series loses so much steam and interest while it's away. For instance, Thundercats and YOUNG Justice in perticular, has probably already stolen a substantial portion of the viewers because of this.

Marvel is playing with fire here...

Why not just start production on a third season instead of holding back the end of season one, or the entirety of season 2?

There's something called re-runs as well, ya know... Might fit pretty well with a re-run or two when the Movie comes out.

I'm not sure if Thundercats and Young Justice would really "steal" viewers away from EMH. If you like those shows chances are you'd be into EMH as well. Its not like they have the same timeslots.

However, delaying the release of the new season might cause viewers to drift off and form a closer attachment to the other shows that are coming out on a far more regular basis, and might cause some alienation amongst fans who are waiting for the new episodes to begin.

Disney's approach to the show has been incomprehensible to me.

With Cap and Thor in theaters you would think they would have skipped at least one showing of Phineas and Herb or Kick Buttkowski (blech to both) to support their own franchises - same with the DVD releases.

They blew any momentum with non-geek audiences on this months ago with anemic numbers of showings per week, lousy time slot and never giving it a consistent appointment airing time.

    Anybody understand their game plan?

Can anyone tell me the timetable for the release of Season on onto DVD and/or Blu-ray.

Volume one of Season one is already in the shops here in Australia, but how long do we have to wait for the next 3 volumes? And why release it as volumes, why not as a season box set?

I don't want to be suckered into buying all the different volumes if there is going to be a box set with bonus content released afterwards.

Oh, and on topic..... Im assuming season 2 is being held back to coincide with the Avengers movie release in May perhaps?

This news, of course, sucks dogs balls, as I've been bouncing off the walls waiting for season 2. There's only so many times I can watch season 1. Seriously. Im at about 7-8 viewings now for season 1, and I dont wanna get sick of it, so Marvel and Disney? Please hurry the F*** up and release season 2 already.

Just get over it. SilverZeal types like spelling things correctly is a crime, I cynically hate on Marvel while wishing the editors cared as much as I do despite the fact I'm not paid to care and they are, StoneGold makes astute and witty observations and corrects people a lot of the time, such is the way of CBR forums.

I think our best hope is that like before Australia airs the shows before the US so we don't have to wait on Disney XD in the USA to finally put them out.
