It almost feels like they were a bit too ambitious with this season.

I watched it again. I'm wondering if this isn't the line up they'll go with for a GotG movie, you know. It mirrors the MCU Avengers archetypes quite neatly.

That's their goal. They're going with the recent team.

Enjoyed the GotG guest appearance, though a little disappointed that it was a sausagefest. I think Mantis could have subbed for Adam in the story at a pinch, though I can understand why using any of the other women would have been difficult.

They could have swapped out Moondragon for Warlock.

They pretty much used Warlock as the telepathy dude in the show anyway(tho it was a nice easter egg having the Soul Gem depost each Avenger in thier personal happy place).

Only her classic costume is too revealing for a kid's show.

And im sorry I cant see Adam Warlock in the GOTG as anything other than a demotion.

The Avengers are torn apart when Nick Fury returns and reveals that the shapeshifting alien Skrulls have begun infiltrating Earth. The situation becomes worse when they learn a Skrull lurks within the Avengers.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Adam Warlock is their headliner. Who else do they have? Their leader is a mostly forgotten '70s space hero. They also have a half-forgotten Kirby monster, a talking raccoon from an obscure miniseries, a second-generation Quasar, a woman whose biggest accomplishment was getting impregnated by a sentient tree, and three Mar-Vell supporting characters. Warlock has had his own series, headed up a team (the Infinity Watch) and been the messiah figure of Counter-Earth. He's the guy who lends clout to this team.

Oh, I know; but I didn't expect Phyla over Mantis, and one would have thought that Drax & Gamora would have to feature in an MCU team facing what they might, but now I'm not so sure.

How should I be looking at it? What I was driving at was that while Vic Vega saw Warlock on the GotG as being a demotion, basically a way of bringing Warlock down, maybe his association with the team was a way of building the other members up. As far as cosmic heroes go, Marvel's only got a few that might be considered big names. Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Nova and whoever's Captain Marvel at the moment.
