So glad Manapul is still drawing Flash. His style suits it perfectly.
My eyes are having a series or orgasms right now.![]()
Gorgeous work, but it's all down to the writing for me.
I feel like if they were going for writer/artist, they should have gotten Karl Kershel and Cameron Stewart to do this book. Not only have they proven they can write (well, Kershel at least for sure, and the two of thhem put out a video game tie in that got nice reviews) but with the two of them working at full capacity you may have been able to put out a monthly book of un-matched quality, artistically.
Don't get me wrong, Manapul's artwork is great, some of the nicer stuff DC is putting out (and that page in particular is gorgeous), but it just seems strange that DC is putting so much nonchalant confidence in such untested writers.
I mean, we see Tony Daniel getting all these opportunities, okay, he's done a lot of work (none of it good IMHO, but taste is taste). David Finch is getting his own little vanity project off to the side of the Batman universe, that's a bit much but okay. But to just randomly say to EVS "You should write Firestorm!" or to these guys "Write Flash!" kind of seems...premature to me. Maybe they'll turn out to be great, but I really do appreciate that at least in the case of JH Williams, EVS and Manapul they understand and accept that they need co writers on the book to help smooth them out. Because no matter how much raw talent they might have, unless they've been trying and honing their craft over the years, it's going to come out sounding and reading rough.

How can this be an "exclusive" when Bleeding Cool had this same work up hours before this story was posted?
This looks fantastic!
The art was my favorite part of Flash vol.3, and the fact that Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato (sp?) are returning is the main thing that has me looking forward to the Flash corner of the DC relaunch.

Already commented on this, we know it's beautiful, let's just hope if it's going to be good.
And it's worth repeating: Please, don't be like Kolins.
Comic Books are fun, Comic Book fans not so much.
No doubt, that's some beautiful art. I'm still far from sold on the book. His writing is an unknown and unless his Barry is a radical departure from Johns', I ain't going anywhere near it.
And, is it just me, or is that suit basically just Wally's with some extra patterns thrown in for no reason whatsoever?

And just like that, I'm sold on the redesign, and at least the first issue of this book. Incredible work.

...how many Flash #1's does this make in the past few years? I'm serious I've lost count. It's at least 4 since Infinite Crisis, right?
Sweet! I love Manapul! Definitely high on my list of favorites.
So that's his relaunch costume? For some reason, the Justice League reboot cover made me think it would be bulkier.
Actually, it is more that it looks more and more like Wally isn't going to exist in the new DCU. As for those little redesigns, I don't like them purely because they look like crap to me. The costume looks perfect already do we need those very Jim Lee-esque additions to it?
