I don't understand why they have avengers, new avengers, and mighty avengers which are all the same thing really (using a lot of the same characters) but marvel draws the line at an international team...
Interesting interview this week. Very insightful.
Still It does hit me that Hitmonkey and things like this Sixguns get greenlit. Yet we can't get a global team of heroes.
I've read this from Tom a lot. How Alpha Flight is just Avengers in Canada or West Coast Avengers is just Avengers on the West Coast. I just sometimes feel that this seems like a rule for one but not for another. With all the samey X-Men books floating around and New Avengers and Avengers.
So if Marvel were to produce a global team are people really not going to buy it because the Avengers operate globally sometimes. When we can have 5 x-books pretty much featuring the same cast members can we really not get a global superhero team.
And since when was the Avengers the only team non-mutant allowed.
To be honest I dont give a crap if its called Global Avengers, Excalibur, whatever. As long as it is a fun well written comic then I can't see any reason why it shouldn't exist.
I don't think well it's too much like Avengers is a good enough reason to not put out books like this and churn out stiff people really aren't generally interested in like Hit Monkey or I imagine this Sixguns. At least enough for these kind of titles to make any money.
I don't want to discourage variety or the next Runaways. But maybe we should just start with the obvious stuff and stop putting hurdles silly hurdles in the way that nobody cares about if it's well written.
Also think Carnage works in the same way Dracula used to work in the Tomb Of Dracula. Not as a hero who needs to be made sympathetic but as force of nature that other heroic characters have to deal with. In that way I think it could be an ongoing. But still I Imagine it would get a bit samey. At least with minis once it gets tired you can just stop for a while.

I've been properly stunned the first time I saw Joe Mad' pages of AVENGENING.., it's been a while I hadn't see Spidey fighting like that and this is the amazing proof of a great understanding of the character. This kind of Team-Up is completely fun, and I hope it will also makes rooms in the rooster of the main Avengers titles.
I think you find the right approach here, but I'm not sure it will works in a long-term approach. Some characters are better by jumping back, blasting and disappear after that. But it's all about purpose, for once I wouldn't be against something else than defeating the vilain and putting him to the Raft. The Hunt of Carnage could be really fun as he could crossing paths with differents teams, seeking help to others vilains, ...

Leonard Cohen - The Future
it sold just as much as Punisher and Moon Knight for the first two arcs which marvel have relaunched over and over again then it started to dip and was cancelled and since has been nominated for various awards. Honestly there's really no reason it shouldn't have been relaunched.
Wasnt the New Invaders an international team that wasnt the Avengers?
i never thought id say any of this but damn Chris Bachalo's art in those avengers pages are WAY better than John Romita Jr's Art in the last issue
Note: i am Not a fan of ether artist but bachalo's work here really is warming up to me :)

My problem with Tom's argument about the Avengers essentially being international is that they've barely been avenging or defending areas outside of NY.
The only book that's been more international is Secret Avengers whereas Bendis has a bunch of crisis happen mostly in the NY area or have the threat simply come to the Avengers. So far there hasn't really been much of an international defense from the New or regular Avengers although Fear Itself remedies that to a certain degree but even then they're all split up. Plus having Iron Man go all the way to France to defend it seems like an unnecessary stretch when you have MI 13 around to defend that area. I mean, why didn't they guest star in Iron Man's book or get a mini series? It's not like they're not doing something that different with the Immortal Weapons starring in Iron Man 2.0 and defending K'un L'un.
Before Fear Itself, the Academy kids also went to France via Pym's Infinite Mansion, on their way to being punked out by the Sinister Six. At the same time, the instructors were trying to mitigate a volcanic eruption in Italy.
