HOCOF Bonus - Batman Live!
A spolier-rific review and synopsis from History of Comics On Film Producer Derek Crabbe and his co-host Michael Vargas of the stage show Batman Live from DC Comics!
History Of Comics On Film Part 57 (Challenge of the Super Friends)
I'm gonna wait a little bit before I post this one below on the blog, but it's all up and ready for watching should anybody here not want to wait.
History Of Comics On Film Part 58 (Super Friends 1978)
Pretty much this is the same show, but the two half hours had enough different material I felt justified into making it into two separate videos like those Filmation ones from earlier.
Feedback and thoughts are appreciated.
You know, you're the first one I heard ever supported the idea of the heroic Toyman being one of Toyman's robots.

No problem, I enjoy your work (though I still don't agree with your defense of Cry For Justice but whatever) and while I disagree about the Japanese Toyman, I do agree with you about that tasteless pedophile child killer Toyman, what interested me about the character is that while he's a criminal, he wouldn't dream about harming a child (I kind of wish to see him stay as an ally for Superman during Elliot S! Maggin's run in the Bronze Age, which is my favorite run on Superman)

Thanks BBally. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, so no worries.
I think Hiro was probably a fun one-off in Superman #177, where they could have Superman combat some Japanese archetypes, but after that I didn't ever have much interest in the character. Even in the first issue I was more into seeing Superman fight psuedo-Gozilla or whoever. Hiro was just a means to that end.
Toyman's reform didn't last very long, did it? I wouldn't have minded seeing Jack Nimball having a longer go at being the Toyman either.
Yeah, his reform ended due to a complete misunderstanding when Bizarro crashed into Scholt's Toy factory (which Superman provided him with), destroying all the toys he worked hard on therefore possibly ruining his business and he assumed it was Superman who did it as a cruel joke so he went back to his criminal ways, which he began by killing Nimball. One of the most heartbreaking moments as a comic reader was near the end of the issue when Scholt's realized his mistake, he was actually crying begging Superman for forgiveness as he was escort by the police. Part of me felt really bad for him.
As for the dark sinister Toyman from the 90's, that role fits Prankster better in my opinion (minus the pedophilia), since the Prankster started out as a criminal with a sick sense of humor whose pranks were actually lethal (basically Superman's Joker if you will)

Derek these have been really entertaining and insightful i like your voice too you pronounce things well and stuff.
I used to have that Supermobile toy myself as a kid, not sure if I still got it somewhere. A recolored Supermobile made an appearance on an episode of Batman: Brave and The Bold being piloted by Lex Luthor.
