    Default Marvel Digital Comics Discussion

I was thinking of buying an iPad to reach MDCU until I realize the app does not support this.

Does anybody use an alternative tablet, that supports flash, to reach MDCU?
    Thanks in advance!

Added Info: you can link your marvel app and comixology accounts -

Email comixology and they'll set it up for you. I think they need your username and email address for both accounts, but after that you're set.

But, it's only a one way street, so to speak. Purchases in the Marvel app can be downloaded in comixology, but not vice versa. And sometimes the Marvel app has exclusives or early releases.

I don't know if there is anything besides uber-expensive Windows tablets (the kind you'd generally see used in hospitals) currently on the market that runs Flash.

The Motorola Xoom (coughZoomcough) that is coming out soon was jsut announced to NOT have Flash @ launch, because Adobe can't get it (Flashplayer 10.2 for mobile devices) done in time.

I'm hopefull now that Apple has instituted a system for In-App subscriptions that Marvel will get cracking on a MDCU App, I'd be ALL.OVER.THAT.

A friend of mine at work has a Chinese manufactured tablet that supposedly runs flash. Price tag is much cheaper than the ipad.

I'm going to try to get him to bring it to work so I can test MDCU.

I use an Ipad and it's great. Don't get a screen any smaller than 9.1 inches or you'll have viewing issues.

Do you use it to buy $1.99 comics or for Marvel Digital Unlimited? I though you couldn't use it for Digital Unlimited?

You can't. Those crazy-expensive tablets won't let you read the comics you already paid for.

I’m amazed no one has made a cheap color eReader for comics. As it is you can’t even find a decent selection of black and white manga on the Kindle.

    Default Marvel Digital Comics

This thread is set up to discuss Marvel's digital comics program. The market is expanding and many believe that digital is the future, or at least a major part of the future in the industry. - GH
    ------------------------------------------------

I didn't know where to put this thread and this seemed like an appropriate place. I am a college student and I can't afford to purchase comics on a monthly basis, so I am wondering if anyone uses the Marvel Digital Comic Service, if so how is it?

How is reading the comic on your computer?
Do you need a third party program to use it?
How is the overall quality of the service and is $10 a month to much?

I would like to know more but I can't think of anything else so please fill me in on how this service is.

    1. I've been reading comics on my compute for about three years now. After an adjustment period, I now much prefer it. You can read the comics at much larger page sizes, don't have to dig through longboxes, etc. There are many benefits.

    2. No. You read them through a flash-based application that opens up through your web browser. You don't have to install a thing.

    3. The quality, particularly for he older comics, is Marvel Masterworks/omnibus quality. The only thing "better" would be the new coloring showing up in reprints like the new Thor omnibus. The best deal is to sign up for the 1 year plan. You play a flat fee of 59.88 which comes out to 4.99 a month. You can set it up to renew after a year.

Thank you for all the information. I think I am going to sign up for a the monthly to give it a try for the first month and if I like it I can just do the yearly then after.

I subscribed to Marvel digital comics unlimited about 2 weeks ago. I never liked reading comics online but the new reader application does a good job of maneuvering around the pages. You can try the service out for free on Mondays, and you can sample comics before you subscribe anytime. I'm really happy with it so far and plan to move completely away from print at some point.

I think the service is cheap alhough i cannot get it with a friends CC somehow i cannot subscribe i live in Holland. Had it for a year though will ask other friend for it next week.

But reading series like Exiles and some What If's mini's unknown titles.

    The library is very extensive.

Although it does not beat paper its not a very big hindrance.
I only buy trades and subscribe to Marvel Digital.
Trades because i like reading paper and there is almost no comic scene in holland. I know quite some ppl in various ages and there is noone who even want to read a comic. So still hoping i can lend a trade to someone.
I am also 30 years old so.

My neighbour even did not read the comic i lend to him when he was in the hospital. So pretty hopeless situation.

Sorry for my own personal feelings here :)

Also one of the BIG advanteges of digital is no more space problems.
I have litterly thousends of comics stored in boxes.

I pop in every now-and-then to see if they've filled any of the horrendous gaps in the older collections, and I just saw the new "Buy Digital Comics" feature. Now I'm sorely tempted to go digital...

Yeah, I have been going pretty much crazy with this. I love it. I have just gotten into Nova and I enjoy it a lot. I am trying to finish up Runaways and Astonishing as well. I just read through the x-23 miniseries and it was wonderful. That blog helped me out a lot. Thanks for all the wonderful information.
