Is the video of Morrison on the net anywhere out there? I really want to see the whole thing.
"focusing on the League’s core team members: Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman."
I'm trying not to be nitpicky about continuity anymore, and to keep an open mind, but I really hope they don't retcon J'onn out of being a founder. I don't mind that he's not in the new book, I think it's a great idea to put him in Stormwatch. But I just hope they respect the character's legacy and keep him as a founding member.
That said, pretty much everything else I hear about Justice League and Action Comics is awesome.
Pull List: Action Comics, Green Lantern, GLC, GL: New Guardians, Justice League, The Flash, Batman Inc, Batman, Nightwing, Batman & Robin, Dial H, Animal Man, Frankenstien, Earth-2
While I'm sure it will be great in the long run, I don't really understand how ANYBODY could think we need another Superman Origin story right now. There have been at least 2 others in the last 7 years.
Yes, that's right kids: yet another Superman origin story.Morrison stated that “Action” would serve to retell Superman’s origins, bringing a modern perspective to the title that first introduced the character in 1938.
Enjoy, or something.
There's a difference between retelling his origins (ala the first Action #1) and retelling his origin. I'd bet money it's the former.
"it's not a reboot".
To quote Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

Because with great power comes great marketability.
Calling Superman the “greatest idea we’ve had as a human species,” Morrison stated that “Action” would serve to retell Superman’s origins, bringing a modern perspective to the title that first introduced the character in 1938.So excited for this. I'm also elated to read that Superman will be re-established as the DCU's FIRST superhero, as he should be....the new number one issue of “Action Comics” will take place in the past to establish Superman’s back-story. Both Lee and Johns expressed excitement about having Morrison take the first crack at the mythos of the Man of Steel.
Look, I love superheroes, but that's just crazy talk.Calling Superman the “greatest idea we’ve had as a human species,” Morrison stated that...
I'm going to give Justice League and Action Comics a shot, and as long as Green Lantern remains relatively unchanged I'll keep picking that up. The other books are hit or miss for me, some look intriguing (Grifter drawn by Cafu especially!) but other look like horrible 90's rehash (I wish that DC had left well enough alone with Teen Titans, I had just started getting back into that book for the first time in years!).
I can't fault Johns enthusiasm though, he loves the characters and always tries to do the best by them, even if all his ideas aren't home run ideas!
"focusing on the League’s core team members: Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman."
I greatly disagree. In the early days of the League, Superman and Batman were hardly even there--as greatly evidenced by their "I'm too busy with something else" moments in the League's first appearance back in The Brave and the Bold #28. Using them as part of a core didn't work well when they started the latest volume. (Meltzer added in Wonder Woman for that core, rounding out the "Trinity".) And we've gone extended successful periods without Wonder Woman, Flash, or Aquaman (specifically, the post-Crisis relaunch).
A Green Lantern is probably a good part of the core of the team--we've almost always had one.
But all that said, J'onn is the core member. All the others have somewhere else to be, some other thing to take care of--they have solo adventures. But with the exception of the latest volume, J'onn is always there. He's the soul of the team, an excluding him, just like last time, will make this lose a bit of life.
I'm also disappointed to hear we're getting origins in Justice League and Action. We don't need to revisit the origins. Do Justice League like it was originally. "It's already formed. We'll fill in the details later." And Action... well, how many Superman origin stories do they need to tell?

I don't know...I may have said this before...
...but maybe there's a silver lining to this whole thing. That outrageous renunciation of American Citizenship can now be wiped from continuity. Hahahahahah. Eh. Heh.
But not from my memory, unfortunately.
Maybe I should stop commenting on the DC boards. I guess hard-core DC fans are used to this constant resetting and thus don't mind it so much (or even look forward to it).
Meanwhile, I find it offensive.
I think he means the concept of Superman.
He's the perfect being in every sense. He's all humanity would love to be, physically, personally and pshycologically. He's the dream, the goal of our species, how we would be if we could create ourselves.
In that sense, he's right.
