Hope you guys did a second interview about Catwoman.
I am calling it right now. This is the first of the 52 to get the axe.
Pull List
Avengers - New Avengers
Uncanny X-Men - All-New X-Men
Fantastic Four - Uncanny Avengers
Indestructible Hulk - Guardians of the Galaxy
Superior Spider-Man - Nova
Judd Winnick's writing has been good recently with Justice League Generation Lost and Batman and Robin, tho it would help if we see Batwing abit more in Incorporated, but yeha Winnick has to pull out the big guns to get people interested ina completely brand new character.

I'm definitely interested in this title. Glad he came right out and said where David will be based out of (and that Africa is a *continent* not a country).
I actually would love to see Kate head out there for an investigation or a team-up with David.
I'm looking forward to this title. Winick said a lot of the things I wanted to hear in this sort of interview about the title, and I look forward to getting to know David as a character. It is also cool, that while he does live in a fictional city, that it will be based in reality, and that he lives in the real country of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and not a fictional nation. Fictional cities are a staple DC thing, but I prefer real countries for the most part.
That interview sort of calmed some of my concerns on the book. I'm definitely gonna pick it up. Still kind of would have liked to see Nightrunner over Batwing though, simply because we've had more exposure to him than David. I guess it's up to Winick to convince me otherwise.
I'd have taken ANY of the other International Batmen over this character, not least of all Jiro, the Japanese Batman (from the first two issues of Batman Inc).
Christ there are so many great opportunities for stories with a Japanese Batman, especially from a visual standpoint. You could go absolutely batshit crazy - pun intended - with the villains for starters. I think Morrison would have to write it though.
Plus, how many Asian characters does DC even HAVE anymore? Cass has been benched for years and may not even exist in the new DCU and Ryan Choi was unceremoniously stuffed in a matchbox to sell comics. . . .
Asian characters? Anyone?
Even better - Indian? Is there even an Indian character in the DCU?
"Diversity" they said. Pfffffft.
Yeah, it was a nicely written interview ... that gradually took that much-maligned long view of a "Batman of AFRICA???" that people have been railing against, and steadily with each passing detail and paragraph rectified that scenario.
The Batman of Tenasha City, a fictional "Gotham" or "Metropolis" in the D.R. Congo. But a defender of Africans, who often takes field trips into other African nations. Nicely put, Winick.
I can't say it'll be a great book or anything, but it was a sensible and well-handled interview, and I'm at least going to pick up # 1 if only because I like the character and it's so strongly linked to Incorporated.

He doesnt have a chance in purple and neon blue.. Chnage his colors.
Cheshire, Sensei, Lady Shiva ... I'd continue the list, but I'm noticing a trend where they all seem to be ninjas or kung-fu masters. Not that those aren't fantastic pop-culture tropes. Ah! Doctor Light, Rising Sun, the Great Ten, Big Science Action, Super Young Team. They're there for a good writer to pick up and play with, hopefully soon.
Indian, though? The newest Teen Titan, "Solstice" is Indian. I really, really, really can't think of another example. So props to J.T. Krul, of all people.

I applaud DC's diversity even if it does feel it only stretches as far as Black characters.
But seriously Winick? The last time I njoyed this guys work was Exiles. I can't see some ex reality tv star managing to really capture how a superhero in Africa would operate.
Is there really no African writers?
It just feels like they pulled these creative teams out of a hat.
I am glad this isn't going to be all political though. But I do expect a lot of splash pages and full issues dedicated to drawn out fights.
Saying that, the guy did good on the Jason cartoon movie. Maybe he will bring it.
