So either Wildstorm has been absorbed into the DCU, or the DCU as a whole is splitting into different canons.

    Hmm.

Interesting. How do Apollo and Midnighter fit into the DCU? Aren't they just Superman and Batman pastiches?

Wait, no Captain Marvel? No Power Girl? No Blue Beetle? No Steel? No Wally West? No Jay Garrick? No Donna Troy?

The Hell DC? Do these characters still exist?

Ok, I didn't really expect Midnighter and Apollo to be part of it all. And alongside MARTIAN MANHUNTER. But hey, Paul Cornell's writing and that's all I needed to know.

I got a strong GI JOE vibe from the BLACKHAWKS solicit, and sure enough Mike Costa (who's writing GI JOE: COBRA over at IDW) is the writer of this one. Interesting.

JONAH HEX gets relaunched as ALL-STAR WESTERN (with other DC western heroes backups), cool.

Nice to see Ivan Brandon's a part of it all, writing a new SGT. ROCK series (Frank's grandson in modern times) ,ad that Joe Bennett is illustrating DEATHSTROKE.

Seeing Cafu on GRIFTER makes me wonder if THUNDER AGENTS is indeed done in August.

And Giffen co-writing OMAC? That makes it quite a bit better.

I don't really want to see Jonn J'onnz rubbing shoulders with those Authority sociopaths. Authority had some good stories, but man, they should just stay out as far as I'm concerned. If they have to be on this imprint, they should exist independent of the DCU. If anyone can make it work, though, Cornell should.

Besides that, it looks pretty dang good. I'm glad to see westerns still in the mix, though Jonah Hex is a better title than All-Star Western. A modern Sgt. Rock sounds cool. Bunch of anti-hero titles I won't buy. Deathstroke is lame. Aaaaand, DiDio thinks he can write Kirby. But luckily we have Giffen to hopefully set him on track. Not a bad set of announcements.

    Shameless copypasteing from the other thread;

Stormwatch in the DCU... with MARTIAN MANHUNTER as a member?? By PAUL CORNELL!!! SOOOOLD!

The rest of the titles don't interest me as much. I love Kirby, so I might have to try OMAC... though I'm not expecting much. Deathstroke looks cool.

Yeah, DC IS delivering on the diversity front... not necessarily racial/ethnic etc. diversity, but on their line of books. Marvel looks completely homogeneous in comparison.

I couldn't disagree more. Paul Cornell + The Authority + Martian Manhunter? This has just jumped to the top of my "book most excited for" in the relaunch. I'll buy 2!!

Paul Cornell taking on Apollo and Midnighter is great news - as long as DC commits to 'diversity' and keeps them gay.
He's the kind of guy who would leave you in a k-hole to go play Halo in the other room

Any word on Tiny Titans? Hopefully I just overlooked it.

If they take away Tiny Titans, Power Girl and Steph as Batgirl, you'd think they don't like 'fun' books.

This is getting more and more frustrating by the day. I mean some of the stuff announced today seems a bit interesting. Definitely a market for some of this stuff. Other stuff just has me throwing my hands in the air saying "the Modern Warfare crowd wants to play Modern Warfare, they don't want your comic book." Then OMAC, oh jeez. Not even getting into it.

Gonna keep an eye on this new old Gotham based Jonah Hex though.

Agreed. Anything the Authority might do, the JLA would stop.

Just by the looks of them, I suspect these are not the same Apollo and Midnighter at all. Give it, and Cornell, a chance...
