Still don't care for Bleeding Cool, but this guy (Nabil) is freaking nuts.

The Boy Who Hated Ultimate Spider-Man

Ultimate Spider-Man is a successful show on Disney XD, with decent ratings, audience reaction and the kind of thing a broadcaster likes to hear. It was recently renewed for a second season.

For some, however, it’s not enough. Specifically, it’s not the Spectacular Spider-Man animation show that preceded it, which had a very different style, and an older demographic.

And there is one internet user called Nabil Elmjati who seems to have started a one man covert war against the show and Marvel Animation.

Since Ultimate Spider-Man began running, every Sunday he’s tweeted to Joe Quesada about how so many fans hate the show and wanted Spectacular back.

It was enough for Joe to take the bait. He told Nabil that if the show wasn’t to his liking, then he should just stop watching and that the production team were already working on season 2. Nabil agreed.

    Ish.

Because, despite denials, Nabil appears to have created the site Marvel TV News which runs stories about Marvelk animation and games, but mostly about how awful the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon is, and how everyone hates it. It is registered to a “Nabil Mjati” in Morocco. So, you know. That’s him.

And then he posted the news that the Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes would be cancelled and replaces with the cartoon Avengers Assemble. He also quioted from a press release, purported to be “print only”, saying “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes won’t be renewed for the 3rd Season. Marvel Animation will present their newly developed series Marvel’s Avengers Assemble in 2013.”

Which was picked up verbatim by sites all across the internet, some like Comic Book Movie, Oh No They Didn’t, CBR, Critiques For Geeks, giving credit to Marvel TV News, others like iFanboy, ScreenRant, Geek Tyrant, Super Hero Hype, Comic Vine

Only problem was that the quote was made up. There was no official press release. It was a lie that few chose to question.

There is certainly the rumour that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has been cancelled. It may well be replaced by the new Avengers Assemble. But no official word. Marvel TV News made up an official quote and all the websites followed suit without checking.

It gets better. Nabil also directed people on Twitter to Jeph Loeb’s Facebook page, where Loeb was being bombarded by negative comments about Ultimate Spider-Man. So much so that Jeph had to take his Facebook page down.

Except Jeph doesn’t have a Facebook page, there’s just an Author page which doesn’t take comments. It looks like Nabil may have created that too, and recruited people to write such comments. Facebook were informed of the situation and took it down.

Now there’s a Hitler Downfall video attacking which Marvel TV News”discovered”, posted and tweeted around. Did they discover it? Or did Nabil create that too?

In early episodes, I have to agree, I didn't enjoy the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon. There were a few episodes here and there that were fun: Doctor Doom and a few others that I can't remember the name of. Otherwise, the show was off to a rough start. However, nothing this guy did was warranted. To lie to the public the way he did is ridiculous. However, I do expect Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes will be confirmed cancelled soon enough, so I don't think it really matters when we finally learn the truth. Besides, if all the remaining episodes of Ultimate Spider-Man are like the Wolverine episode and the entire Avengers series is like that, then I will be a very happy camper.

Today's episode was the best one yet, you could sense the darker tone aswell. Also really cool to see Batroc the Leaper get some animation love...

The new episode was surprisingly dark.

All my friends hate this show (mostly the 4th wall stuff and they say Drake sounds 12) and they want Spectacular back which is understandable. I had never seen Spectacular before so I marathoned the entire series 2 weeks ago in like 4 days flat. I must say Spectacular was the best Spidey cartoon I've ever seen. But I like Ultimate. I don't see why it's so hated. I could see why a Marvel comic or spectacular fan could dislike it and have discrepancies about it, but HATE it? My friends talk about it like the people who work on this show should all die of AIDS. It's not that bad, is it? I sure don't think so.

I thought Venomous was a decent episode, but the 4th wall breaking really hurts the series.

If you're fine with no character respect, inconsistent story telling and just ignoring all common sense with characters and again the story telling, sure.

It DOES have a much younger target audience, though. I mean, think of the cartoons you watched when you were eight. How much consistency, common sense, and character development did those have?

Who the fuck gives how many low standard cartoons out there? I watched the good stuff man, thats what sells and gains reception. Honestly you might as well say it's okay to enjoy shitty video games, movies and computers, because the market is full of them.

Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, Batman, Spider-Man, X-Men, Freakazoid, Pinky & the Brain, Biker Mice from Mars, Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles thru VHS and so forward. Trying to defend a shitty show saying theres alot of shit out there is not a strong argument, it simply shows someone is willing to lower their own standards.

Actually, many of those shows had far more character development than I've seen in Ultimate Spider-Man. Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the 90s Spider-Man cartoon, the X-men animated series, and Transformers all seemed to dedicate far more energy to character development than the poor slap-stick that Ultimate Spider-Man has adopted. I may have been young at the time, but I wasn't so stupid that I couldn't appreciate good storytelling.

I'm sorry but biker mice and x-men are kind of on the fringe there for me
