Over at the Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast message board (which I guess will be either shortening or lengthening its name soon), they were kicking around possible theme songs for Steph. My favorite of the ones suggested is "Emergency" by Paramore. My oldest daughter loves that song, so we listened to it on the way to school this morning. Given yesterday's news, I don't think it's the last time I'll be listening to it today.

If this were the only good page in the entire story, it still would've made issue 14 worth buying:
Seriously, good luck to anyone trying to write a Batgirl team-up that can compete with Steph/Kara, Steph/Damian, or Steph/Klarion.

This is such a bittersweet thread - so many great moments from so FEW issues, comparatively, and to think they're canning what was one of their best, most reliable books and a great character with so much potential.
Her banter with Damian was hilarious. It was such a well-written, consistently fun, funny book that in a lot of ways mirrored a lot of the tone of stuff like "Buffy", and I miss it already.

In a weird way, I feel a little bad for Gail Simone. There have been HUGE swaths of the last 25 years where news of Barbara Gordon becoming Batgirl again would have been greeted with near-universal enthusiasm by fans. Instead she finally gets to write her favorite character in the role she most associates that character with... and she has to do so knowing that while some people welcome it, the majority of fans are upset that it's happening. That's a bit of a gut-punch.

I honestly do feel bad for her, Part of me wants to support her cuz she seems like an amazing lady, getting on here and listining to fanboy rage
i almost want to check out the book to give her a shot.
But with some of us she is just kind of caught in the cross hairs shes just the writer its the editors at dc that made this decision so yea i agree with you.
it would feel like a gut punch

For someone who I expected to hate as Batgirl, I ended up loving the hell out of her. Her ongoing was in my top 3 coming out of DC... her run as Batgirl was cut way too short, and I'll be crushed if she doesn't exist in the DCnU.
Already missing her.![]()
