    Default ALIENS: Colonial Marines

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4J_D_Fny2c

"To Gearbox Software and its peers throughout the industry, ALIENS is one of the most influential science fiction properties of all time," said Randy Pitchford, President of Gearbox Software. "Aliens: Colonial Marines, designed as an interactive successor to the landmark films from Twentieth Century Fox, is a dream project about which our studio is deeply committed and passionate."

"Aliens: Colonial Marines will be THE definitive ALIENS gaming
experience," said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at
SEGA Europe and SEGA of America. "Gearbox Software are doing a
brilliant job translating the thrill and horror that ALIENS stands for
into an action-packed shooter experience with co-operative gameplay at
    its core."

Gary Rosenfeld, Senior Vice President of New Media for Fox Consumer
Products added, "It's no easy task to take on one of the most
influential films of all-time, but SEGA and Gearbox are not going to
disappoint. This game will be a must-have for fans of the ALIENS
franchise and gamers around the globe."

Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the
U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426. Players lead a group
of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the
deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew. They will have to
fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they
chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places
humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the
universe. Aliens: Colonial Marines features authentic environments,
such as the surface of LV-426 and Hadley's Hope, weapons inspired by
the film series and is designed to provide an exhilarating and
engaging new chapter in the Aliens universe.

    Thumbs up

I was worried that this game would never come out.

And I had no idea it features a return to the Sulaco and LV426.

I may break down and spend $$$ I don't have on a PS3 or XBOX 360 for this...

Yeah me too. As of now only this game and Twisted Metal has my attention.

Right now Aliens:CM has a spring 2012 release date, so we still have a lot to go.

Glad to hear this game is back on track. I figured it was dead in the water. I was indeed disappointed with the AvP game that came out a couple years ago, but I may try it again soon. But with this, Skyrim, and a new Resident Evil game, the end of the year, begining of next may get a little pricey for me.

After all these years I thought they'll have more to show then a teaser.

I don't know. After AVP, I have a bad feeling that this game is going to bomb. It's most likely I'll wait for price drop.

AVP2 was one of the best games of its time. Lets hope this one works out.

Aliens was the best film to base a game after. I'm not even into video games these days and that little preview got me wanting to buy a system.

Look nice, but I always find it hard to get excited almost a year in advance.

I do hope it's more than just a shooter...

    *Dusts off thread*

Well quite a bit has happened. Below is the announced 'collectors edition'. Looks cool, but I'll be pre-ordering the standard edition, which is detailed below also.
    http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/31/al...top-pre-order/
For $100, the Collector's Edition includes a Powerloader vs. Xenomorph statuette and a USCM dossier containing a mission brief, a schematic of the USS Sephora, a recruitment card, iron-on badges, recon photos and a USCM graduation certificate. It also comes with digital goodies, not the least of which is the ability to play as the film's Apone, Drake, Hicks and Hudson.

You'll also receive Ripley's flamethrower, "additional marine customization options," two bonus multiplayer weapons ("Sonic Electromagnetic Ball Breakers" and "Phase Plasma Rifle") and an exclusive level, the USCM Academy Firing Range.
Pre-ordering the standard edition from Gamestop will net you the four bonus characters, customization options and Ripley's flamethrower, but none of the other content/toys.
and then of course theres the new "Escape Mode" announced a few days ago. Which quite honestly looks utterly BAD.ASS.

All I can say is: PLEASE.DONT.SUCK.

my only nitpicky complaint about Aliens was why didn't they leave at least one person up on the Sulaco? who just leaves a ship alone, with no one on it?

I wouldn't have mattered. Communications were down.
