Default CBR: Valiant Entertainment Returns To Publishing In 2012

Fueled by a capital injection from former Marvel CEO Peter Cuneo's new company, the owners of the classic Valiant Comics library are set to launch new stories starring the '90s superheroes in 2012, as the principals tell CBR first.

Considering how Solar was the core of Valiant at least to me, I'm very interested in seeing how it will work without him. I've had no interest in the new Solar stuff because it just didn't feel the same without the VU.

Considering that Dark Horse is qiving up the license on the Gold Key Valiant Characters, maybe VE may pick them back up.

Very interesting. I'll be looking into the new XO Manowar for sure. I wonder if they'll reach out to Jim Shooter and Dark Horse regarding the Golden Key characters.

Didn't Dark Horse let their rights to the Gold Key characters lapse, or am I imagining things? Maybe the Cuneo funding is allowing for those to come back "home..."

As much as I loved that Jim Shooter was writing those characters again, it's the original Valiant Universe versions that I loved the most.

I hope that we will see the return of the true VU and not the Valiant/Dark Horse one.

I am for Solar, X-O Manowar and Ninjak!!!! I don't know Harbinger and Bloodshot.

Maybe 2012 will be the year to discover them!!!!!

But without Shooter at the commands!!! No man!!!!

This is a great idea even though I did not follow Valiant back in their day.Probably though they should relaunch their own characters first the market being what it is these days.My understanding was that some of the originals sold quite well at the time. The real problem with GK is not releasing too many at the same time and also looking into full ownership of the properties if possible, not licensing them from the current owners of copyright.Probably not possible at this point or affordable.

Harbingers was like The X-Men. Teenagers with superpowers on the run from the Harada Corporation who want to weaponize superpowered individuals.

Good d c dat Bloodshot is cuming bak.....finally we can get a real badass Native American hero in his own on-going.

Dont care 4 Harbinger or Solar or Archer & Armstrong?

    We/SZ r most luking 4ward 2:

Shadowman(watever happened 2 d completed but unpublished issues of Shadowman II)
    Turok
    Rai & d futureforce
QUANTUM & WOODY(dis comic was so funny written by Priest it should definitely return. Even betta, it should get d Boondocks-like animated series)
    Bloodshot
    Troublemakers
    Armorines
H.A.R.D Corps(though it needs sum serrrrrrious diversity)
    Psi-Lords(same point about diversity)

    Finally! This is amazing news!
A lot of Valiant Comics from 1991 are still innovative, edgy, and original even if read today. I still go back and re-read them all the time. Valiant started that universe off with a nuclear bomb of a bang with those opening stories. Magnus, XO, Harbinger, and Solar's original arcs were just incredible comic storytelling both in art and writing thats hardly been matched since.

So many fans have been hanging on to hope for their return for YEARS and it looks like its finally going to happen!

I wish them the best of luck in this market though. If even the mighty DC is making drastic reboot changes to try to pick up sales - I, sadly, find it hard to see a niche comic universe from 91 making waves. I desperately hope im wrong though. They better nab as much good talent as possible - and hold absolutely nothing back. Anything could (and did) happen at any time in those early stories. It was so different from the tone and style of Marvel and DC. That's why the original VE1 universe was so good.

I'd like to see them come back and maybe publish the comics through Image or something.
