so based on recent discussion what constitutes the character of Powergirl?
like what do fans say makes Powergirl... well, Powergirl? Is it the costume, the hair, her powers, the stories she's often put into, etc.

What are the traits people will always think of when they think Powergirl?

I for one always think white costume and a blonde chick with a witty attitude, in a way kinda like a blonde Babs

Reading his tweets on the matter, I don't believe he honestly thinks that the new design somehow denotes a change in character (which would be idiotic coming from anybody). Sounds more like he's just being a loving husband.

Was Dick Grayson not Dick Grayson when he transitioned to Nightwing and later Batman? Or when his Nightwing costume lost the collar and became sleeker?
I hate to pull this example out of my ass again, but it works.

Some could argue that that "Wasn't Batman", though. I had no dog in that fight, but I could see how some would.

Jimmy nor I actually believe that isn't Karen Starr under that fullbody racing stipe abomination. To call her "Not-Power Girl" is just away to show extreme displeasure to the treatment of the character design.

As far as pulling examples out of your ass...well you said it, not me.

I wish they had actually gone to Connor for the redesign. OTOH, there's no guarantee she could have pulled it off any better with all the requirements DC was sticking on to it.

I just can't get excited for it. Most of the designs are fine enough, but their eastern influence looks awkward under western artists.

And the entire hook is that none of the men are around? That's it? That doesn't exactly lend itself to interesting storytelling.

I'm sure it'll be fun and all, but I can't help but feel that the talent behind it wouldn't be better utilized elsewhere.

looking at Supergirl it obvious her design was meant to soak up as much sun as possible so she's always at full power so she'll take being cold in exchange for constant full power ;)

I'm only wishing they add Fairchild to the team, seriously a team up between Powergirl and Fairchild would be so awesome... also why does PG design scream out mecha musume?

We'd need a Fairchild Ame-Comi statue first. Which I'd totally be down with, actually. I regret not getting the Wonder Girl one on discount from the sculptor that had a booth at a local con last year.

And they really need to get this artist involved at some capacity...

not really that difficult if enough people ask for it that DC would see a profit they'll make it. That's how they've always worked, $ comes first

So World's Finest #1 and Earth 2 #1 both come out today. Should one be read before the other? Or does it matter?
