    1. Spiderman
    2. Wolverine
    3. Hulk
    4. Captain America
    5. Iron Man
    6. Daredevil
    7. Thor
    8. Punisher
    9. The Thing
    10. Deadpool

Hard to include somebody for a list of individuals when they're more important to a team. That makes it tricky to include FF and XMen, but they should be represented. To be considered iconic, I think a character should have had some success with their own ongoing title.

I'm in agreement with the big 6 everyone settled on. What I think is more interesting is the importance of individual series. If you were in charge of MARVEL and could publish only 10 books, which would you choose? What if it was 15 or 20? My list would be, in order of importance:
    1. Spiderman
    2. X-Men
    3. Hulk
    4. Avengers
    5. Captain America
    6. Fantastic Four
    7. Ironman
    8. Wolverine
    9. Thor
    10. Daredevil
    11. Silver Surfer
    12. Dr. Strange
    13. Punisher
    14. Deadpool
    15. Black Panther
    16. Powerman and Ironfist
    17. Defenders
    18. Hercules
    19. Sub-Mariner
    20. Ms. Marvel
(But really, I'd probably have a second Spiderman and X-men series before Namor and Ms. Marvel, but other than that I'd have just one monthly series for each character/team.)

Sorry if this is too off-topic.

    Who I think it is:

    Spider-Man
    Captain America
    Thor
    HULK
    Iron Man
    Wolverine

Characters I think should be up there, but aren't:
    Daredevil
    Blade
    Elektra
    Ghost Rider

All of these characters have had movie, TV shows, cartoons and video game support.

How does The Thing keep popping up on the list? Is he really that popular/recognizable?

Well, my big 7 isnt all that different from everybody elses, but here goes.

    1. Spider-Man
    2. Wolverine
    3. The Hulk
    4. Captain America
    5. Iron Man
    6. Thor
    7. The Punisher

After three separate movies, a few guest appearances in some of the animated cartoons, and a couple video games, The Punisher swoops in at #7.

I would love to include Daredevil and Namor on this list, but they need to step it up in other media first.
Dean: So, what do we do now?
Castiel: I suggest we imbibe copious quantities of alcohol... just wait for the inevitable blast wave.

Are talking story wise or company wise. I will take story wise for now. Based on how much of the MU revolves around them.

1)Spider-Man. Member of more teams than you can count.
2)Wolverine. Quite a few spinoff characters. Also a member of a ton of teams.
    3)Steve Rogers/Captain America.Runs the MU pretty much.
4)Iron Man. After Civil War, Tony is bigger than the Beatles.
5)Deadpool. Currently the new Wolverine. If a writer can put him in a story, they just do.
6)Thor. The main hero behind Fear Itself.
7)Cyclops/White Queen. The epicenter of the X verse. Everything goes through Scott.

Because people forgot now is the 21st century, not the 1980's

    Cool thread RAAJ!!

    I'm gonna say:

    1. Spiderman
    2. Wolverine
    3. Captain America
    4. Ironman
    5. Hulk
    6. Thor
    7. Deadpool

Then if I have to add others:

    8. Jean Grey
    9. Dr. Strange
    10. Daredevil

After this I'd probably lump in Storm, Punisher, Silver Surfer, Namor, Hawkeye, Black Panther (to a lesser degree, although him having a book helps) and Nightcrawler (though useless with the X-men for years, hes kind of an iconic figure and most people know of him if shown a picture or is named)

Everyone else was probably popular at one time in the 80's and 90's, but has done nothing as of late. The Fantastic four are more of a franchise as a whole family rather than individuals so I didn't include them on the list as they'd be pretty high as a team. X-men as well. Pretty sad that characters like Rogue are losing their flair while people like Red Hulk can actually place in the top ten in a few years.

    9 Wasp
    10 Namor

I really wanna know the big 10 in order.

So we all know that most of us would agree that Spider-man is # 1.

and Hulk is getting a lot of #2. Does he really deserve it or does Wolvie take it?

    so, keep the list comin.

post who you think are the big 10

and once again, no team included.

Have to agree with everyone that says that there is a Big 6 and the 7th position would be wildly contested between the movie heroes (Daredevil, Punisher, Ghost Rider, Surfer) members of the FF and the X-Men (Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey in particular).

FYI I don't think DC has a big 7 either - they have a Big 5!! (Aquaman and J'onn J'onzz might be League founders but there are several others inthe DCU that are bigger stars/ successful solo heroes- Robin, Supergirl, Catwoman, Green Arrow)

Aquaman is debatable. You could certainly make a case for him.

But Martian Manhunter? As great a character as J'onn is, he's not bigger than Green Arrow, Hawkman, Captain Marvel, Booster Gold etc, let alone the "legacy" versions of the Big 5 characters like Dick, Kara, Power Girl, Wally, Kyle, Guy, Tim... possibly even Donna.

He's there as a founder. But nobody in this thread is suggesting putting Hank Pym or Janet Van Dyne in the Big 7 bracket.
