We'll see how issue #1 goes. I don't really have high expectations for Flashpoint, so I hope Johns surprises me.

I caught the big reveal ending of issue #1. I'm not sure about Flashpoint yet so I'll have to read the rest of it to put the reveal in context. I'm just really hoping this isn't "Age of Apocalypse" lite.

Teaser looks awesome, but the actual storyline itself doesn't garner any interest in me.

besides the alternative versions of the characters, i don't know much about the story and what exactly is the point of this event. Still, i love elseworld stories.

I was just reading through Twitter, and the amount of positive buzz from retailers is running on full blast.

    Can you elaborate? Positive news?
One doesn't need the validation of others to justify what they like.

I stopped getting event singles for trades and hardcovers, but I might actually get this issue today, now that we get our comics in Ireland on Wednesdays instead of Thursdays now.

I don't think he means positive reviews (Yet) I think he is referring to retailers (Comic Shops) getting excited about ordering tons of copies of Flashpoint because they think it's going to sell like hot cakes.

    Wait and see, I say.

It's Johns so I'll check it out, even though I have zero interest in Barry Allen.

Is it just me or do a lot of the "alternate" heroes seem really dark, brooding, and maybe even evil? Must be a bad alternate universe full of mean people.

You see, that's going to be my biggest problem with this.
I generally don't see people changing completely just because of a different environment.

It's funny because I said that in a column I write for ForcesofGeek.com about alternate futures:

"Has anyone ever noticed that science fiction stories about the future are never all about sunshine and puppies playing in fields of joy?

"If reading X-Men for nearly three decades has taught me anything, it is that the future pretty much tends to suck.

    "Across multiple timelines.

    "Days of Futures Past? Sucks.

"Wherever the hell Rachel Summers or Bishop came from? Sucks.

"The Age of Apocalypse? Ultra sucks.

    "Nope.

"No sunshine and happiness in any of those places, just a steady, driving rain and three-legged, one-eyes puppies with rabies."
