The Best There Is At What I Do
Cable is the only serious answer.
Storm will continue to wallow until she accepts Yukio!

Interesting take...I guess as a an Xman fan going back 30 years now I never saw some of things mentioned here that way.
For me, I guess it should be known I didnt mind the marriage, but dont think it was handled well by the man who instigated it, and during my years reading the Xmen, never saw any connection outside of close friends between Logan and Storm.
For instance, I never saw Storm, even in and especially during the Claremont days, as having a need for self-control. She was usually just always in control, did what she wanted, and quite comfortable with herself and who she was. It wasnt until her encounter with the Brood and Acanti in space, followed by the Morlocks, that she felt the need to gain some other type of expression and became fiercer, which was fine, but Wolverine had nothing to do with it. This instance made her more of a warrior than before, but that began to be tempered mostly by her relationship with Forge at the time, who in many ways at first brought her some peace.
Logan himself wrestled very much with his wilder and killing nature, but often sought calmness and control through Japanese culture and his love at the time, Mariko Yashida, not Storm. Everyone knew Logan's great loves at the time was either Jean Grey (whom he couldnt have) and Mariko Yashida. And a fling with Yukio and others, so personally, him and Ororo never entered my mind. Storm had just as close relationships with Jean, Kurt, and later Gambit... but I never saw them as trying to seriously get together either, especially since with Logan, they came off as family to me, though MOST of the Xmen were usually very comfortable with flirting with each other.
Which the problem with all the subtext lies. ALL of the Xmen, except maybe Cyclops, were flirting with each other in one way or another...but actual relationships were never stated. I remember Angel kissing Jean on the mouth IN FRONT of Cyclops, Wolverine kissing Rogue and Psylocke, Betsy psi-flirting with Scott, Nightcrawler flirting with Storm as well as Logan and Gambit, and Gambit flirting with everybody and even kissing some others...so with all of this going on, its arguable that one could say the Logan and Storm had this incredible romance for each other when so many Xmen were always flirting with each other, while at the same time being there for each other.
However, the only actual stated relationship she had was with Forge, from what I remember, and despite how it ended, that was a good match. Dude was as spiritual and attuned to nature and magic in a peaceful way as she was, and had a maturity that seemed to match hers, where Logan, whom was intelligent, always came off as too much of a "bad boy" and too temperamental for her.
I dont, and would never condone, calling her a slut, and have argued against some who have on here and other boards, but having a 30 year knowledge of the character, I never saw her as the person who would get down in the danger room with Logan like that, even back then. She always seemed too...regal to me for that. That's what Ive meant before when Ive said it reduces her to me. Shes still a great character, but not the regal goddess she came off to me as. Even in her wilder mohawk days, thats still how I saw her. Emma yes, Betsy yes, but not Storm. Not even Jean, really.
Truth is, if this was always intended to be, why not have really done it and established it back then?
In any case, as a one true love, Forge so far still fits that bill. Her and Logan have always had a great friendship, but no lesser or greater than their friendships with the other Xmen...even with this last development it still comes off as "friends with benefits", where Forge and her had an actual relationship.
Where is Forge?
I'll go with Yukio as a close second.

R.I.P Kurt Wagner <3
Forge is magically back from the dead and a current member of Cable's X-Force team...and a side note on him, remember back when Jamie Madrox supposedly died in X-factor Storm and Xavier went to visit the team and give their support...Forge gave Storm Africa where even the water was wet with his virutal reality training room...in response she gave Forge a big kiss that lasted several panels before it faded to black with them still kissing...there will always be something between Forge and Storm, yeah he is magical he's a shaman last time I checked...and he's supposed to do big things in the future, becoming "The Maker"...
W/B Warpath/Siryn Sam/Tabitha I'll go now............................................... ...
Wolverine definitely
Ororo Munroe: I have no powers, my body cannot fly. But I no longer mind, for in my heart and soul -- where it truly matters -- I soar higher than the stars!
It's Thursday and I still say Thor.
