I'm missing an issue of Superman from the run I picked up but now I've got about 40 comics to read. Ought to keep me busy for a bit :D
    Very nice indeed.

Over on the Holiday Shopping thread I've been soliciting advice about buying comics for my kids.

Last night on eBay I purchased The Fly #1-12, Annual #1 (Impact) for $5. I've never seen these before but I've heard great things about Mike Parobeck and figured the price was right.

I also picked up a few digest-sized Marvel Adventures and a couple of Justice League Unlimited trades.

Yep , I always liked those Superman books from the late 80's to early 90's. The subplots and characters appearing then was a nice touch with Maggie Sawyer , Cat etc etc...

The Eaters - A floppy reprint of a 1995 graphic novel by Peter Milligan and Dean Ormstron, packed out with some other reprinted Milligan-written short stories.

Gah. So great. It's about a tribe of cannibals touring the country in a Winnebago, teaching people "Christian values." (Thing communion. Yuh-huh.) It's freaky and funny thoughtful and disturbing.

Some quotes. During a hostage situation. Newscaster: Apparently they threatened to shoot the shopkeepers ass off, sergeant. [/b] Police Sergeant:[/b] I think we're talking about DENIAL herre. I think we're talking about an attempt at EMPOWERMENT. Newscaster: They also said, and I quote "Any ****er that comes near us and we start shooting and that includes you, you fat Irish Faggot." Police Srgnt: "I think we can see how these people, and their language, are victims of a phallocentric, homophobic, white male dominated society.[/b] "One of the hostage takers is a white male, sir." "I just don't think we want to start bandying around terms like "white" and "male" until we have full possession of the facts. That's all."

"So what do I have to do to get the ****ing Latino vote? Crap burritos on stage"
"Just try not to make any Mexican jokes when the media are around."
"But my Mexican jokes are a riot. You heard the one about Mexico being so shitty, which is strange because every ****ing Mex I know is a cleaner?"
"Shay, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. People find that offensive."
    "The do? Well **** 'em."
"Sure. AFTER they vote for us. It's called politics."

A book that was completely folded in half, however, is just a 'defect' that bugs me, even if it was the norm for mailed copies. I know it's not always a big deal to others, but I'm a bit fussier...
hey jez; i'm thinking the creased/bent in half comics must have bothered more people back in the day too because the comic companies (marvel, dc) made a big deal out of announcing they now mailed their copies flat.

Grabbed this one last night. Most romance covers are easy to find, but finding them in decent shape is tougher. I actually only had a #9 of this run, so I was psyched to find this one in my price range. CONFESSIONS OF ROMANCE #10:

Oh - I always loved that #151 cover. There's a few good ones in that range. Gotta love the Bart Hamilton Green Goblin issues. I remember tracking them down... 15 years ago? Dayum... I'm gettin' old!
