There are some amazing covers in the pile of stuff I got. I'm obviously a big fan of superhero and other genres, but it's almost impossible for other genres to get the kind of drama that a good romance cover brings.

Here are a couple I got yesterday that grabbed my attention:

And the lot also included this classic:

Don't worry, I'll be posting a review as soon as I read it.

Not sure how you can compare these comics to "I Love Lucy." The comics were about young single woman (or girls) seeking romance, either in school or at the workplace, or young married couples and their problems. "Lucy" was a comedy about a married couple (who I wouldn't call young, even when they had a baby), and their wacky adventures, along with their older married neighbors. The closest thing on tv the DC romance comics could be compared to would be a soap opera.

According to the GCD, you are correct. It looks like he was doing covers and interiors for this book for a good stretch up until 1965.

Hi Dupont! The digests were an after thought as I had counted the comics I definitely wanted to buy and then I stumbled upon two boxes of digests. There were tons of Archie, but also Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and other DC and Marvel superheroes. Unfortunately not all of them were in such great condition so I basically picked the best of the crop and bought those. Also grabbed a couple of High Grade silver age Worlds Finest and Superman for a buck each and a few other things. I just finished sorting through everything and deciding which ones I am keeping and which ones I am giving away. Feel pretty wiped out energy wise as a result but its a good energy drain sorting through comics and choosing which ones to keep. Overall it was a very good last visit to the stores for me for 2012.

I am honestly trying to cut back some on my comic book purchases, as I have been going a little nuts the last couple of months. But I keep getting derailed by great deals.

Today I bought a book that I just had to have, period. It's a legit all-time classic Golden Age cover and this copy is in beautiful F+ condition. It would rate even higher if not for a fairly minor tape pull on the back cover, which frankly I could not care less about. So beautiful!

This is my actual copy, check it out:

From the international division comes The Phantom - and a most confusing series (least for me to understand).
