150 to current is a very realistic goal, as the issues tend to get pricier prior to 150. I was still able to grab most issues after 123 for around $30 to #40 a piece in VG. Before that, they get pricey as all heck. 121 and 100 are, of course, the truly big expenses in that run.

Currently, I'm missing 100-102, 104, 106, 108, 110, 114, 116, 117, and 123. Sometimes you can find the 110s inexpensively, but I expect the early 100s to hurt my wallet when I finally get to them.

Still, I picked up a VG #120 for $20 at Motor City Comicon this past weekend, so I have some renewed hope of getting from #100 to current soon.

Are you collecting the series, or spider covers, or LB Cole work?
Now on Dollar Bin Blues: Black History Month? Valentine's Day? Why choose only one?

It's all about the LB Cole covers. I'm going to have to count them all up soon. Off hand I think I have about 80??? They span everything from funny animal, horror, romance, war, jungle, crime, all kinds of stuff!

Of course, I do appreciate a good spider related cover. One that I'd LOVE to get a hold of is Planet Comics #39:

Thanks, I hope I do too! Good luck on your Batman run. I'm woefully lacking there. But I would suggest you don't limit yourself to just 100 and above. Go for the whole thing!
A couple of years ago I saw a copy of Batman # 13 in a glass case at Half Price Books. They wanted $700 for it. It sat there for well over a year. I eventually offered them $300 (It was in poor/ fair condition) for it and I would have gone a bit higher but they poo-poo'ed me as if I was insulting them. They eventually lowered the price to $490 and it was gone soon after.
While I generally don't think spending that much on one book is a very wise choice I would have loved to have that one.

Thanks! Hopefully it will grow to be COMPLETELY impressive.
I have not been to the CGC boards. I looked around but I can't find them?

I now almost have the entire Startling Terror Tales run.

I also threw this one in my basket as well...

Those are some awesome books! I don't seek out horror books from the Golden Age (at least not yet) but I would love to read some of them.

generally i buy a stack of comics divide them up into what i am definitely keeping and what i am not sure about, and the ones i am not sure about i go over several times looking for imperfections. other times its just comics i changed my mind about buying in the first place so that stack becomes my reading stack which i place in a drawer so there is always something in the drawer for when i want to read something. then after i finished reading them i put them in a stack and give those ones away.

other times if the storage is getting too full i just go through a couple of boxes or crates and remove issues i dont want to keep anymore (could be for any reasons; dont like the title or artist anymore, dont like the storyline, etc) and use those as reading copies before giving them away.

but most times stuff in storage can stay in storage for a long time before i might look at it again. just today i was going through some old crates and removing toys i no longer want to keep because some had slight damage from where price stickers had been removed. other toys i had forgotten i had even bought. other times old age can cause problems too, like part of the bubble where the toy is housed will lift on one or two corners and i really hate that so i get rid of those too.

I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

Ok, I remember seeing an auction listing that had some pictures of the inside but I can't seem to find it. However I did find this page:

    http://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?cid=621

That has a few of the issues of this run, just not THIS issue. The numbering of this series is odd even by Golden Age standards. The first issue of the series (carried over from something else) was #10 followed by the STT #11 that you see there. It went to #14 before restarting again at #4 and then going up to #11 again. To make it even weirder, that spider cover has a variant. See how the TERROR is outlined in blue? Look at this one:

It's more scarce and it thought to be a press run change. Maybe they ran out of blue ink.
