Thumbs up Hero Up! Super Hero Squad Online Discussion

There was some talk of it in the other Marvel MMO thread, so I figured we might as well have an official unofficial thread for the game. Since I am sure that a number of us are playing at the moment. It's a pretty fun game I have to say. I have been collecting the toys from Hasbro from the begiinning, and also have enjoyed the cartoon series. The MMO is a nice casual game, where you can jump in for a bit and jump out. No need for endless hours of grinding.

There will be a PVPish element in the form of a In-Game TCG, but that aspect isn't in game as of yet. I have seen demos and videos of it, and it looks like it'll be fun once the game fully launches. Hopefully they'll launch a real world equivalent at some point, since the demo at PAX was pretty fun.

    https://www.heroup.com/

I'm already playing, but there are some game codes which I believe are still active for free subscriptions. Superhero or superhero should still work, and get you 2 free weeks IIRC. And the codes from the Taco Bell comic or the Mama Rosas Pizzas also give you 2 weeks each, in addition to an exclusive character.

It is a free to play game, with the initial roster of Cyclops, Falcon, Ms. Marvel, and Thing. But if you subscribe or have an active free subscription, you can earn gold each day to buy the regular characters available for gold. As well as have access to buy the characters from the Jr. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent side of the store.

Which are currently Iron Man, Black Widow, Spider-Man (Black Costume), and War Machine. The Jr. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent store also sells Hellicarrier rooms.

So far I have most of the major characters unlocked. But given that gold isn't easy to save up, I still have a number of them to go. I like how all the characters have somewhat fairly unique play styles, many right out of the comics. Like Scarlet Spider has his impact webbing. Which is pretty damn cool.

Rumors suggest that they'll be adding Daredevil, Deadpool, Dr. Strange, and Elektra sometime this week. But that's currently not confirmed. I'm still shocked that Silver Surfer is 25K, and that people have managed to unlock him already. I'll post my Squad and current roster when I edit this post later.

Heh. I didn't want to just post the Taco Bell and Mama Rosa's Codes. Since they are part of a promotion with those two companys.
But I have no issue if you or someone else wants to share them in the thread for others, Countgate.

Reptil and Black Widow are two of the best characters from what I've played so far. Black Panther isn't bad either. And his emotes are hilarious.

Hulk seems to be about the worst character, in my opinion. Powerful but slow. Maybe the eventual Planet Hulk will improve him.
I'm also hoping that when they eventually release Red Hulk, he'll maintain the power but not be so bloody slow.

Someone posted them in the game Facebook page.

Reptil is my favorite, because his fourth move in the combo is incredibly damaging and almost always fills your energy bar. Iron Man is also cool and his range is ridiculous.

The code for Scarlet Spider-Man is a one-time use code I'm afraid.
Like I noted above, it comes in Wave 21 of the Superhero Squad toys from Hasbro.

    Thanks for the info!

Looks like I'll be heading to Toy's R Us tonight :) any idea if the boxes are specially marked?

Also just so that people know, you cannot apply these codes after you have paid for your account. Wasted a months fees before realizing that one.

Wow. Didn't realize the image was quite that large. Fixed. If you could remove the larger scan also.

And no, there's no indication of the mini comics w/ codes being included on the packaging. I wish there was, it would hype the game.

The comic is inside the cardboard packaging underneath the figures. You should be able to hear it moving when you shake the package. Good luck.

if you're playing for free, you'll have to use one of the codes to get temp Jr. Shield agent status then you get gold on the big wheel (you need tickets to spin it)

is it all series one packs or only some of them? For instance could I just buy one directly from Hasbro?

That's where I got my set of Wave 21 from. So yeah, it should have the code included.

    excellent, thanks

BTW where did you hear about Daredevil, Deadpool, Dr. Strange, and Elektra? If we were going to be getting any new characters I would have thought they'd be Thor related around the release of the movie
