I think Alex Ross's time has come and gone in comics, his art looks stale now, seeing as how he has found his nitch and never expanded beyond it, hence stagnation. and does he honestly think he can recreate Kirby? please

It still looks great. I would've prefered he remained close to :

    • 4-6 panel grids
    • Kirby's designs (Unless I'm hallucinating and they're faithful to it)
    • Flat colors. I'd love to see him do ONE comic that's his beautiful linework with flat colors.

I think Alex Ross and Kurt Busiek are two of the top industry players. If you think you can do better i'd love to see it. Stagnant????

    Ok anyway.

It looks terrific. I will be checking this out, I love the Marvels concept being carried through and this looks to be an amazing companion piece.

Now they need to do something similar for DC.

Haters will hate, but I'm loving what I've seen so far. Very psyched for this and I didn't think I would be when I first heard about it. Everything I've seen so far has me pumped.

This does look pretty interesting. I'd love to see some more of Alex Ross's character sketches for this.

Any word on whether or not they'll reprint Capt Victory or the other books that inspired this?

Y'know I really love Busiek, so I guess I am hoping for the best. It just seems like they are milking late era Kirby characters and pasting the Kirby name on it as a marketing ploy. And I have to say I was disappointed overall with Superpowers.

Guess I'll take a look at it in the store and form an opinion there.
Banned once...and still pissed about it. Well, okay...more like annoyed about it.

We haven't changed any of Kirby's designs.

I don't get this. We're using Kirby characters -- some late-period, some not -- and putting Kirby's name on it because they're Kirby's characters.

The Kirby family owns these characters and this book. I'm not sure why we wouldn't make noise about these being Kirby characters. After all, they are.

Guess I'll take a look at it in the store and form an opinion there.
Hope you like what you see!

I love how the cover designs look just like the covers to Marvels, I always thought the see through letters on the title were a neat feature.

I am super excited about this series. Kirby' designs warrant a universe all their own. The updates keep getting better and better. I think I see there might be two spin-off series which would awesome as well. Ross and Busiek are perfect for this project.

Very much looking forward to this. I used to have a subscription to the Jack Kirby Comic Collector and still have those issues. I would look through the pages and see drawings of Kirby characters that never actually appeared in any published stories and would think it'd would be interesting to actually learn the back story behind the characters.

I was one of those who wasn't too enamored of Captain Glory's costume though. Be interesting to see what Ross does with that. Interestingly enough, in the Topps Comics VICTORY limited series, Keith Giffen redesigned the costumes for Captain Glory, Nightglider, and Bombast, but it looks like they've decided to return to the originals.

Hope we get to see Big Masai again. They can keep the Goozlebobber far away though.
