Default Wrestler of the Week (04/11-04/17)

Welcome to the TV/Film board's Wrestler of the Week poll.

Each week you'll get your chance to pick the wrestlers who you think entertained, competed, or did the best during the previous week.

People can list up to 5 picks (you can list only one if you want). But you must at least rank them from 1 to 5 since I will be giving points depending on how the picks are ranked. You can either choose a single wrestler for a pick or a tag team as a pick. You can also break up tag teams into individual picks.

There is no real criteria for why you pick who you pick. It can be whoever you did best that week, whoever you enjoyed the most that week, or however you decide who makes your favorites at that time. It can be from any company, federation or country. As long as the person did something that week in the industry. Just listing your all time favorite who didn't do anything that week is not in the spirit of the game.

I'm going to limit this pick thread to only listing people's picks. You can list why you picked who you picked. But comments and responses to people's picks should be kept to the main wrestling thread.

This week's poll is for wrestlers who were active during the week of 04/11/11-04/17/11. This poll will be open until 04/18/11 6PM PST/9PM EST.

I've only got two picks this week. Because of the nature of the week, number 1 is my favorite wrestler of the 2000s, Edge. The sudden retirement, the emotion in his speeches ... it all came to a head and it was even very staggering for me to watch. If you guys can YouTube his speech after SmackDown went off the air, I recommend it.

Number 2 is Christian for being thrust straight into Edge's spot. I hope he makes the most of it.

Just for throwing some names out there. 1.Christian for being the new number 1 contender. 2. The Colony for winning King of Trios, 3.Sean Waltman for not being as big a douche as everyone used to think he was, 4.Kurt Angle for landing on his head and coming right back, and 5.)Sin Cara for his debut match.

1.) Edge - Edge's retirement overshadowed everything else this week. An emotional, heartfelt goodbye for a guarenteed Hall of Famer.

2.) Sean Waltman - For apparently putting on an amazing show a King of Trios, enough to get "please come back" and "thank you" chants from the crowd. He was so moved by his experience, he posted a letter for all the CHIKARA staff giving his grattitude. Very nice to see him bounce back a little.

3.) Sin Cara - Botches aside, he had a great debut match and is already getting over. I'm excited to see more of him.

4.) Christian - He finally seems to be solidifying himself in the title picture, where he belongs.

5.) The Colony - I'm not the biggest fan of them, but the King of Trios winners deserve a nod.

    Hmmm for this week...

1.) Edge - He retired as World Champion. You don't get better than that. Retire on top man.

2.) Kurt Angle - Heard he had a solid match at Lockdown , took a nasty head bump and kept going ! He deserves his spot.

3.) Christian for getting to face Del Rio at Extreme Rulz . He finally gets a World title match. After 3 years back in WWE !

4.) The Miz - He basically sets up his next big challenge , a 3 way match between him facing John Cena and R-Truth at Extreme Rulz.

5.) Max Buck - Won the X-Division Xscape Match at Lockdown and will now is #1 contender to Frankie Kazarian.

As much as I love this, I give him two months in the main event title scene, tops.

Hopefully Vince with losing Edge at least realizes he needs a face to step right in and be at the top....long term on Smackdown. Hopefully....

Edge will have a special mention, but I feel that, since he didn't wrestle this week, I don't really want to put him on this list. Retirement sucks, and he was the most important thing this week.

Also, if I could give a organization a nomination, it would be for Chikara and their many guests (from Dick Togo to Manami Toyota, and everyone in between who made it special), for giving us the best King of Trios in Chikara's history. Heck, it may be a nominee for it's best event ever, full stop.

    Here are my picks.

    1) Christian - He won the gauntlet for the world title shot at Extreme Rules. Since Edge isn't on this list, this is a near replacement spot.

    2) The Colony - After suffering one of the most screwy losses in King of Trios history (Finals of last year... that crud put Derek Sabato on my list), they finally got the title they were meant for: The Kings of Trios.

    3) 1-2-3 Kid - Sean Waltman, if this was your last weekend wrestling, you must have taken Edge's advice, because you picked the perfect time.

    4) Manami Toyota - The greatest women's wrestler of all time continues to cement her legacy, even in Chikara. Forget that, Especially in Chikara. If this was in a mainstream organization, even male wrestlers would take notes. She deserves all of the praise.

Bull Nakano would be proud... you know, if she watches Chikara DVDs over in Japan.

    5) Team Michinoku Pro - Excellent work, though in a losing effort in the Semifinals match against Friends In Similar Tights (F.I.S.T). They brought the high quality in every match they were in, especially the Quarterfinals match against Quackenbush, Jigsaw, and Toyota.

Sorry, TNA. No Wrestler of the Week nods from me, even after Lockdown.
You just have to be cool about it...

Keep in mind if you do not rank your picks, they will not be counted in the final totals.

    1) Edge. Retired champ, leaving quite a legacy.

    2) The Colony for winning KOTs. After Chikara destroyed the hopes and dreams of every crowd member watching KOT last year via a massive BDK screwjob, finally the Colony got what they rightfully deserved...

And yet, I wanted the Portal to win. :p

    3) Manami Toyota for putting on an unrivaled performance by any female wrestler in the US. If this was happening in TNA or the E, she'd be at least number two on most people's lists. She put in work with Quackensaw.

    4) Mr. Waltman, for putting in work and showing an amount of class I have never seen from the guy. He made me rethink my hatred of him. (Though I still don't like the X-Pac character)

    5) Team Michinoku Pro for throwing down for possibly the last time on US soil. Great job from this legendary Trio.

Yeah, I'm Chikara biased. So what.

    1.) Edge - No question.
2.) Larry Sweeney - RIP to the best manager on the indies and a fantastic talent in general. 12 large.
3.) Colony - King of Trios winners.
4.) R-Truth - Somehow getting a title shot. Good on him.
5.) Sean Waltman - For giving people a glimpse of what he could've been without all the BS.

    1. Manami Toyota - Believe the hype
    2. The Colony - Congradulations
    3. Edge - THANK YOU EDGE! THANK YOU EDGE!
    4. Christian - A well deserve title shot from an incredibly underrated competitor.
    5. Sean Waltman - I'm more than a little impressed. I oscillate between hate and benefit-of-the-doubt begrudging dislike. The Colt Cabana interview turned me around a bit but the Nash shoot stuck in my craw. He's winning me over to Team Waltman this week.
