Default What Are Your Favorite X-Related "What If...?" Stories?

I enjoyed What If...? as a youngster. It filled in some Marvel history when I started reading comics. A lot of times, it pretty much became "What if everyone died", but there was some fun stuff. Especially X-stuff.

Since Professor X was buried under the rubble for years instead of Cain Marko, he wasn't around to form the X-Men. The FF stopped Magneto when he first appeared and the mutant hate started a lot sooner. The mutants all follow Magneto, but after a raid on the U.N. goes bad, Professornaut shows up, busts heads and kicks Magneto out. He then gets rid of all of the super powered competition. Then there's a plot to get rid if him which is good fun.

The originals manage to fight off Krakoa themselves, thus a new team isn't needed. The Phoenix story goes in a wackily different direction since Polaris can bring the shuttle down with her magnetic powers from the safety of the shielded room.

Beast has to form a new team to stop Count Nefaria and his Ani-Men. Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Namorita, Siryn, Thunderbird II and wee little Wolfsbane are the All-New, All-Different X-Men!

I know rampant death is commonplace now, but at the time this came out it was shocking.

I actually like the one where they stayed in Asgard.

This is the only What If..? I read, I enjoyed it. It pretty much told the same Phoenix story except Storm was the Phoenix instead of Jean Grey..

    I have two. First #87:

Very creepy and dark, and I was a big Jubilee fan at the time.

    And then #6:

I'd only been reading X-Men for a short time, but knew about the Inferno story. Then on holiday, I bought a copy of a Portugese comic that included this issue. I had no idea what the hell was going on or what "What If?" was, all I knew was that suddenly everyone was getting butchered and it was freaking awesome.

    After Prof X/Juggernaut...
    Wolverine Lord of the Vampires.
I love the Punisher powered with Dr. Strange's cape.

I also like the What If Quicksilver story with Magneto basically as a mob boss and Pietro as the rebellious son who goes out into the world.

Magneto takes over the USA, and Wolverine leads a team of X-Men survivors in this terrible new world. It ends with almost everyone dead, and an X-Men team that has only Wolverine as a recognizable member.

I remember buying this just to trace the cover. I thought What If was ultra tedious.

I only really liked this one:

It's probably the worst comic ever published. I keep it easy to access.

I liked the one Warren Ellis did the dialogue for. I can't remember which...

The one where Kitty bitched Jean out and Jean killed her.

I loved that she put "sister" in quotation marks.

I wonder if she made sarcastic air quotes with her fingers off panel.
