No worries man, I haven't done much PBP RPing either. :)
...and you're really good for a second timer. oO
I'm just going off what I've found while RPing in this RPG in particular.
The posting rate in this RPG isn't as high as it seems, because the number of players is huge, more than in any other RPG I've seen.
Naturally this would require some retroactive posting like in Esper Shift.
The reasons for that are probably:
1) Esper Shift normally moves fairly slowly compared to this one.
2) The situation currently in ES is relatively stable, last I checked. Knowing a little about the future is required for retroactive posting.
3) The number of players are less. Probably the most important factor here.
4) The people who actually play often and are in the most important scenes are even fewer and post fairly regularly. This isn't even a matter of time zones, it's more a matter of posting at regular intervals. Large groups can guarantee interaction if you want it, but also means that if you keep posting, loads of people will end up missing stuff.
Retroactive posting works if there's
time to do it, and the current situation in this game is a big unknown.
For example, I can't skip ahead and have Echo do something and finish up interactions retroactively, because we might be attacked by enemies at any minute.
And I can only post so much about his mental state and the surroundings before it gets silly.
As usual, it depends on the situation. :)
And of course, Sharp might simply be giving others a chance to post so it doesn't look like his character has superspeed or something.
