Space is disease and danger wrapped in silence and darkness.
Well at least DC got there first with 'Batman and Robin'.
Wouldn't it make more sense to keep the Captain America title unchanged and launch a new book titled Captain America and Bucky, since the movie is based on the WWII and Cap/Bucky adventures?
THANK YOU!
Between this and the Journey Into Mystery/Thor thing, I'm kind of annoyed. I mean, I know Cap and Thor have movies coming out and they want a new #1 on the stands (even though there is almost ZERO evidence that a movie being released does anything to long term sales among new readership with a corresponding comic release) but why not just release new #1s and leave the main books alone.
The main books just got their original numbering back not long ago and now this? Seriously, what's going to happen if, say, Journey Into Mystery gets canceled? Will they tack on the numbers of the new Thor book and add them to the last issue of JIM even though they were being released concurrently? Or will they ignore the numbers of the new Thor book and just pick up with the numbering where JIM leaves off?
I just don't get the whole thing.
I'm out. I faithfully collected Brubaker's Captain America run and LOVED it but Marvels' constant re-numbering game is driving me faster and faster away from them. I'm dropping Captain America with #619 and not picking up #1 (Volume Five Million).
Marvel doesn't need my money anyways.
Wasn't there a 1940's/WW2-era series announced a few weeks ago? I don't mind there being another one, but hopefully this one deals with the present, or other eras (with other Caps/Buckys), too?
Marc Andreyko and Chris Samnee being part of this (with Bru co-writing) is awesome news nonetheless.
Touchy much? I don't care for the re-numbering thing either; but in the scheme of things, is it really that big of a deal? You LOVE the stories but the re-numbering is the real crux of the matter? Oy Vey! If you enjoy Bru's stories (and I do); if you have an interest in where this is going (and I do); why not keep reading them? To stop reading or purchasing comics that you love because of re-numberiing is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face. The re-numbering game is in the end no big deal--it would take a bit more than that to drive me away--like a $3.99 price tag for instance. Heck, if either DC or Marvel could put out a good $2.00 comic they could re-number them 'til the skrull-cows come home and I wouldn't care.
And you're probably right--Marvel doesn't need your money anyways. Sheesh! Excelsior True Believers!

This just in!
Marvel is kicking off a new marketing campaign called "Just Get Over It Already!"
Marvel will ship each new number one title or title change with a sharpie so anal retentive fans can continue on with the chronological numbers they've grown to love, because it really, really matters what number is in the top corner of their funny books!
They should've gone with the obvious "Tales of Suspense" thing...
It sounds nice and fits, doesn't it? "Tales of Suspense" by Ed Brubaker! Corny yet appealing! The first number with the title with a cover of Bucky, no costume, by McNiven or Epting!
