Bucky is unique among former sidekicks in that he was never a student of his "mentor"; he was always his own man and actually a dozen times deadlier than Steve ever was. I only started reading/buying Captain America because Buck FINALLY returned to comics, where he belongs. I like his Winter Soldier look; he has great hair and it looks funny covered up by the wingy cowl. A different costume, but the same look--I think he should become Director of SHIELD and fire Sharon Carter.

I love Bucky. Brubaker brought him back in a way that was 'realistic" & added some tragedy to the character. This made Bucky more than a 'grown up' sidekick. It is a credit to Brubaker's skills as a writer that he has developed Bucky's role in the book that makes him a great character.

Right now both DC & Marvel have elevated the roles of their most famous sidekicks - Dick Grayson & Bucky Barnes - to the point that they are some of the best books on the stands right now.

I am way behind in comics but I was under the impression that Steve Rogers fit nicely in his current position and Bucky would continue to be Cap. I had no idea Steve was taking it back. That is so disappointing.

I am only up to Cap #603 but I thoroughly enjoy Bucky as Cap. As seen in this thread, it is different seeing Captain America with a gun. I

guess the Hollywood movie is the reason for Steve going back to Cap?

I agree, and from the many posts comic fandom seems to as well. Let’s just hope that Marvel and DC listen and give these two deserving characters their own titles/identities.

In regards to Bucky's "death" in FI #3, I'll recite an old quote:

"Heroes don't die...they're just missing in action"

I forget where i heard this (or something similar) but it rings true.

Bucky coming back to life is what got me reading Captain America again. i just had to see how terrible it would be. but then i was surprised. it wasn't terrible, it was a very well written series of comics and i've enjoyed each issue of Cap. Bucky taking over as Cap...i was against it at first, but i've come to like Bucky over Steve as Cap. if Bucky is dead, then i'm gonna miss him.

If Fear Itself #3 does end up being spoilers:
the end of Bucky seeing as he was impaled in the chest
end of spoilers, then Bucky went out like a true Captain America before Steve reclaimed the mantle.

If he's dead then how is Captain America and Bucky going to work. It's supposed to be stories told from Bucky's point of view. Maybe it's from heaven or something. On other terms- why did Fraction have to kill him? ...After all Brubaker went through in bringing him back.
