I've only read Van Lente on X-Men Noir, which started out great but was ultimately ruined by having too many interesting plot points that went nowhere and the focus being on a character who is neither an x-man nor belonged in a noir setting. I also read his recent CA:TFA tie in comics, which wasn't very good.

Greg Pak might be good, though. I wonder what Jason Aaron could do, as well.

Jason Aaron gets my vote. Aaron's Bucky in Wolverine: Weapon X was way better than any of Way's takes. I think Roger Stern's done a good job with the character, too, although he doesn't need to be called Jim!!

Andreyko is two issues in and co-writing but I have no complaints. And I think Rucka'd be a natural fit for Bucky, too— he's great at balancing character work with espionage, and that's really what's demanded.

Mark Waid does a terrific 40s era Bucky, worth noting, esp. if you're enjoying the current flashback series.

Yeah, yeah he does. Fits him better and a guy from that time period would have been called Jim by his buddies.

Well, except Bucky was clearly called Bucky and Jim = Original Human Torch. I don't really get where the time period comes into this.

It seems, also, like "Bucky" distinguished him from his father, who went by Jim &c. Nope, he's just gonna have to own his silly 1940s name.

I forgot about Aaron's weapon x arc.. He did write a very good Bucky. I wouldn't mind him taking the reigns one day if absolutely need be, but it looks like he's locked into the X-verse for now.

Agreed on the Jim but. I'm not sure why anyone would call him that anyways :S, especially with his close association with Jim Hammond.

I want to see Rucka writing some missions of the WS in the "Cold War".
