Default CBR: WC11: Pak Explores the Red Skull's Origins

How does a little boy become one the Marvel Universe's biggest monsters? Writer Greg Pak and artist Mirko Colak begin to answer that question in July when they kick off the five issue "Red Skull" series.

I want more normal childhood origins, where a dude is, like, 25 when he decided to be evil. Change it up.

I'm actually quite excited for this. I like that Pak is aware he needs to tell a great story while at the same time not glorifying the nazis in any way, shape or form. I hope the people making the Captain America movie are just as mindful. I'm also glad Marvel is being brave by doing something intelligent like this instead of going for mindless entertainment all the time.

These tons of precedents of this sort of story being amazingly well done. Magneto Testament of course being the first but as Brian Bollard's Joker and Luthor series as well as Ed Brubaker's Doom series. All of them becoming the defining stories of the villians we love to hate.

I avoid everything that's X-Men related like the plague.

I noticed that it isn't a one-shot but a five-issue limited series! And it has to follow the few pages from Tales of Suspense that first told the story.
