Default CBR: WC11: Warren Ellis On "Secret Avengers"

The celebrated writer of cerebral sci-fi superhero comics tells CBR about coming on to Marvel's black ops squad in "Secret Avengers" for a six-issue run of stand alone missions as announced at WonderCon.

Wow! Given that Secret Av followed from Dark Avengers, itself a follow-up to Ellis' Thunderbolts, that's full circle.
    Well done Marvel.

    Thumbs up

Nice, so Ellis goes from Astonishing to Secret Avengers, very nice. The art is a bit of alright, to boot! Digging this already; Ellis writes my favorite version of Henry, up there next to Morrison and Gillen.

So, is it confirmed that Ellis' take on this book will read and function similar to his Global Frequency book because that would be keen!

    Instant buy!

Edit to add, oh never mind, the read the OP and it answered my question. A six issue run? Sweet! I'm down for his run, but I would like Warren to get back to finishing Doktor Sleepless and Anna Mercury 2, both have been delayed for at least a year.

Global Frequency and GI Joe... Well, Warren wrote the more enjoyable versions of both of those in recent times. (I know that's a cheat on one, but still.)

Count on this to (continue to?) be the Avengers book lots of people buy while a small vocal subsection complain really astonishingly loudly online. Unconnecting one off stories intrigues me just because it isn't done so much anymore in comics.

Nice! I only wish it were longer; I'm a much bigger fan of longer runs.

    But still, it'll be awesome.

Beast-haterz must loathe that they have to keep buying this comic! (And, remarkably, they do seem to have to keep buying and reading it.)

I wonder if Dan Abnett could be wooed over for a run after Warren. For whatever reasons, my brain and heart really want to connect up Conspiracy to Secret Avengers.

I was going to say, this is great news... as long as you don't mind waiting. But a done in one series of books will make that much less painful. I'm in!

McKelvie on a major title? Sold. Hopefully this leads to more Phonogram down the road.

Wait, with Ellis on writing duties? Hot damn, I'll buy 10.
