Brevoort about Jean : "Popularity and conversation on internet message boards doesn't equate to sales." Really ? X-Men Origins Sales : Cyclops - 19,049. Emma Frost - 20,093. Jean Grey - 28,596
agree let's start asking about them about Ultimate Jean and making her bigger in the ultimate world. She needs to be on a team and appear monthly at least in the ultimate world.
Its weird because I had the exact opposite experience I fell in love with Jean through the Phoenix Saga portrayed on the XM:Tas but upon watching other episodes with just Jean I was fairly dissappointed she did nothing of note and she was pathetically weak, and then I picked up a comic and I was astonished she was strong-willed and powerful she had all these great relationships with her peer I loved her. Though like you I felt she could be more and NXM and Morrison gave that to me. Morrison's Jean is the definitive Jean to me she was in no one's shadow and finally she really asserted herself while that run was full of awesome Jean moments. One of my favorite was when she simply got dressed told Charles she'd found Wolverine and she was going to rescue him, no calling the team together no consulting others for advice on how to approach his rescue she simply went and scanned a pilot's mind for spacecraft knowledge on the way out it was so simple yet so gratifying.
From the latest Axel in Charge:
On a similar front, joshtylen wanted to
know, "Hi Axel will we get more info on the
next infinite comic #2 soon?"
Alonso: How about right now? The second
Infinite Comic will be released concurrent with
"Avengers Vs. X-Men" #6, the beginning of the
second act of the series—and while we can’t yet
tell you which character it focuses on (it’s not
Nova in this case), it is somebody absolutely
central to the "AvX" storyline, and the story will
give you new insights into their mindset and
point of view—while also providing fans for one
or two of the things they’ve been asking for in
"AvX" the most!
Who thinks he's talking about us?
What else have people been asking to get out of AvX? The Wasp?
It's obviously gonna focus on Hope, but maybe we get some solid Jean hints.

Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

It is pretty ironic that the girl Jean was named for is also more famous for her death than anything she did in life.
I'm surprise my question got picked. All we know is Mark Waid (writer of infinite comic) said we might get some hints in infinite comic #2 when a fan asked about Jean at C2E2. I don't get too excited because it might just be why she isn't in this event or can't come back. AvX already majorly focuses on Hope and Wanda so if it's about them why not just say it, it's no secret. Only person who might be able to explain the phoenix force is either Jean (since she became one with it) or the watcher Uatu.
Risen
The smart money is on the character being Wanda, Hope or Emma.
We'll see pretty soon. Issue 6 isn't too far away.

I wonder if the Jean Grey cultists have an awesome secret handshake.
They do, but they do it telekinetically, so outsiders never get to see it.
I really hope you're lying about the Jean Grey spoiler. That is a spoiler to many fans who still associate the Phoenix with Jean Grey. Why would you be so callous about something a lot of fans obviously care about?
It's not callous, it's honest. I'm sorry you don't like that aspect of the storyline, but lying to you about it wouldn't make you like it any more, would it? And wouldn't you feel even more cheated if you went ten more issues and then realized the truth? It's not a spoiler when I tell you that something that isn't happening isn't happening.
Can't you get in trouble with Nick Lowe or some other editors for divulging that Jean Grey isn't coming back? That was a burning question that so many fans had been asking. You kind of just ruined it for them.
Are you kidding? I don't get in trouble with Nick Lowe, Nick Lowe gets in trouble with me. And are you saying that you don't want honest answers to your questions? If so, what are you guys even doing here?
Even if you don't think it's a spoiler, didn't you just lose some sales by telling Jean Grey fans she's not coming back in AvX? That means they won't buy the series now. Even if they were disappointed, you still want their money right?
I think it's very unlikely that we'll lose more than a few sales of AvX due to the fact that Jean isn't in it, and I'd rather lose those sales than lie to people about it or give them false hope just to trick them out of their cash. If the possibility of her return was a major story element or anything, then I would have answered differently, but it isn't--and in the same way I'm very clear that the Fantastic Four aren't a part of AvX (apart from teh Thing, who's an Avenger) so too am I clear about Jean.
Clearly fans want her back but you guys aren't ready yet for whatever reason so how about making Ultimate Jean Grey a bigger and more prominent character there in the ultimate universe?
She's still in active play over there, sure.
It just feels wrong that Jean won't at least have an appearance in AvX. I know its being swept under the rug for the crossover, but she is a big part of the Phoenix mythos. And Hope has red hair and green eyes. I can't see how Jean can be avoidable.

Jean had an appearance in AvX #1--she was right there on the screens as Cap and Iron Man told her story to the President. But Jean is dead, so she's not a part of this story (as tends to be the case with most dead people.) And nothing is being swept under any rug, this story is just not about her.
No Jean Grey in AVX, huh? Not surprising. Having her around would clash with the narrative and continuity of AVX. So as it stands in this story, the Phoenix has been gone since Jean Grey killed herself on the moon and now it is back?
Why do you guys keep making this absurd assumption even after I've told you time and time again that this isn't the case? You're like a political party on attack spin, where the facts do not matter at all, only being mindlessly angry and lashing out at people. It's unbecoming. Also, it's not surprising that Jean won't be in AvX--because she's dead.
Thank you for putting up with us and answering the Jean Grey questions. We have a facebook page where her fans meet, chat and wait for her return but maybe it's time to take it down. After almost a decade I graciously bow out. Farewell my friend.
Hey, not necessarily. Just because it's not happening in AvX doesn't mean that it will never happen. And in the meantime there are still cool flashback stories involving Jean from time to time such as X-MEN SEASON ONE to check out.
Hm, so no reboot and no Jean Grey in AvX. Don't you fear many readers might become pre-disappointed with the outcome now and drop out?
No, not at all. Those are not the only two possible interesting outcomes, not by a long shot.

She sings directly to the sheep, "Oh noble sheep, we eat your babies. We use your brain to fight off rabies, but the most beautiful gift you give us is wool."
I think you meant Wondercon 2012 Josh. Yeah, I remember that too and I thought that might be a good time for them to at least cite some of Jean Grey's impact on the Phoenix Force. But it's not all that clear what was actually said. If someone has a youtube video of the actual conference that would help, but based on Brevoort's recent blitz it may just be another ruse.

Seems like they really wanna whip out Endsong from continuity, where jean has been ressurected, then she merged with the phoenix and return to the white hot room, the simple "she's dead" is pissing me off, just like when they reburied her in sisterhood arc '--
Marvel is just going to use the facts they want to use and ignore the rest. That's how they got the Avengers franchise to be successful, so they're applying it to the rest of the MU.
Oh good, crazy fans asking Tom Brevoort questions to annoy him.
Can anyone on here explain to me marvel's jean grey/phoenix coninuity?
I've read alot of comics but i just don't understand some things.
Is Jean dead? thats what editors keep saying but as far as i've read she is in the white hot room in endsong and appeared to emma.
what is whith the different shards of the phoenix? how was the phoenix broken into different pieces?
did jean really bond with the phoenix the first time? because i think i read that the retcon was retconned?
what is the phoenix? its a cosmic entity that bonds with a host, but for what reason?
