Yeah, they have secret identities. Though not every costume piece has to be practical if it looks visually cool. For instance, those characters also occasionally wear heels, despite the fact they're jumping around on rooftops.

Case in point: Ms. Marvel. One of the reasons no one can take her seriously in and out of the Marvel Universe is because she parades around in a bathing suit. (It's not flattering enough to be called a "swimsuit.") She doesn't look powerful or authoritative. Failing that, which would be expected of someone vying for that top-level of fame and respect, she's also not sexy or bad-a* looking.

I know I don't take Ms Marvel seriously, she looks like one of those ghetto-booty rap guys girlfriends. I liked her original costume more.

Infinity War was my first Jean exposure, so I always remember her as Marvel Woman.
