Well now I'm really intrigued.
spoilers:end of spoilers
Jean's TP unlocks automatically and she already knows she's dead. So what is it that's going to make her flip out?...Oh crap. It'll be Scott seeing her won't it?
She did cry a little, but she did just learn she dies before she turns 30.
I think it's too soon for the emotional beats of this book. After the Cyclops confrontation we'll see Jean dealing with what happened to her.
Ultimate Jean also appears in the last page of Ultimate Comics X-Men #19.
I'm a bit let down spoilers:end of spoilers It seemed way too cheap.
she just started to use TP out of the blue.
yeah I think it's because we thought or expected it to be a big moment.

Bendis said time traveling would have consequences. Jean got her TP back when Xavier was going away and she changed into the Marvel Girl dress. I remember in X-Factor when she got her TP back. You know everyone is waiting for the Jean stuff to start.
Yeah that bugged me too. A lot. She had it blocked because she couldn't control it, spoilers:end of spoilers
and now she can put people to sleep? And Logan of all people? the guy that has TP resistance? I mean, come on.
That's what bugs me. Cause Bendis was going with the whole she didn't know she had it, so how could've unlock so easily? It was just weird. But most of all, it was just dissapointing as hell, cause you think that Jean unlocking this would be something that would deserve more than a few panels. It just felt like Bendis wanted a quick way to convince the 05 to do something. I don't know, these issues are double shipped so I don't know why they need to rush this story like this. maybe it'll make sense once the arc is finished.
Trying to rationalize it I guess when she first got TP she was 12 and in the middle of a highly traumatic event.
Now she's older, had some disciplined training, and hasn't been around many people yet. Wouldn't explain her sudden skill though.
I do like how Bendis has her excited about her powers.
Maybe in those early days Xavier had to actively keep those blocks in place. He was always there in those early days when Jean's TP was locked. Coming to the present means no one is there to keep the blocks in place. Though it does mean past Xavier would know the O5 aren't there?
