Thread: Ultimate Media

    Default Ultimate Media

Since everyone seemed quite keen to discuss the Ultimate Spidey game in Plawsky's entire ultiverse thread i thought I'd set up a general thread for discussion of games, movies and tv shows based on and/or influenced by the Ultimate Universe =)

    Movies:
Fantastic Four - Lifted elements from "UFF: Doom"
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - Used elements of "Ultimate Galactus Trilogy"
Iron Man - Ultimate Nick Fury
The Incredible Hulk - Hulk's origin based on The Ultimates, as is the plane drop scene
Iron Man 2 - Ultimate Nick Fury
Captain America: The First Avenger - Costume design has heavy Ultimate influence.

    Games:
Ultimate Spider-man - Based on the Ultimate universe
Spider-man: Battle for New York - I think this was based on the Ultimate universe too as it featured Ultimate Green Goblin
Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions - Featured Ultimate Levels

    Games with Ultimate alternate costumes:
    X-men 2: Wolverine's Revenge
    X-men Legends
X-men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse (also featured Ultimate Nick Fury)
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance
    Iron Man (PS3 only)
    Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2
    Iron Man 2

    TV:
X-men Evolution - Wolverine wore Ultimate costume during the later part of the series
Spectacular Spider-man - Mutant Kraven, Doc Ock's break out of therapy, Sandman as a deliberate genetic experiment, Eddie Brock as an old friend of Parker's
Wolverine and the X-men - Elements of Ultimate Fury in Nick Fury.

So there's the basic skinny (is that right? I've never used theword before in my life...) on various Ultimate appearances. Not sure if this topic will take off or not, but I just felt like giving it a shot =P

    Spot any I've missed?

Ultimate Spider-Man was my favorite Spider-Man video game of all time. It gave me voices to hear when I read Ult. Spider-Man and you felt like you were in the comic. It was a pretty good story line and it pretty much was a way to introduce you to the Ultimate Universe if you hadn't seen it or read it before. It was probably one of the most memorable and fun times I've had as a gamer. To this day I regret selling it :[ now I don't know where I'd find it.

I've got a few games to beat yet, but then I definitely want to pick up Ultimate Spiderman. I've heard nothing but good things. =p

Just the other day I was watching FF2: ROTSS, and there was a line in the movie that was exactly word for word from Ultimate Galactus 2 or 3, I can't remember. It was the scene (in the movie) where they were going to take down the Silver Surfer with some sort of pulse, then Reed gets all bad-ass on the military personnel. In the comic, Reed says the exact same lines to Nick Fury instead of the other military dude when he was arguing about wanting to work at the Baxter Building instead of the Triskelion. I was kind of taken aback that they would just rip the lines right out of the comic.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The ripped qite a bit from Doom too, like the heatseeking rocket launcher in the fight at the end and some of the dialogue IIRC.

Just realised I'd forgetten Marvel vs Capcom 3 has some ultimate skins too:

Hulk (though it's just grey Hulk, the way Hulk is rendered is pretty Ultimate looking)
    Magneto
    She-Hulk

The characters with Ultimate costumes in MUA2 are:
    Captain America (WW2)
Deadpool (unmasked, showing his weird head)
    Fantastic Four
    Venom
Wolverine (it SAYS it's his secret war suit but it looks a lot more like a version of his Ultimate costume)
    DLC:
    Carnage (I THINK, not 100%)
    Magneto
    Juggernaut

Just started Shattered Dimensions. Totally wish I'd rented USM instead, it's just not as fun, the web swinging is weird and unwieldy compared to pretty much every previous spidey game ever. Holding A for a web jump, whereas in Web of Shadows you could just tap RT without pointing in a direction.

I did kind of like the explanation for why spidey has a black suit in it though. Saying that Web gave it to him as he'd need more power, but she would keep it from overpowering him.

Are you saying that the iron man games had ultimate armor in them?

Also, has anyone played battle for new York? I'm curious about it now. Were there other ultimate characters in it?

There's also that ultimate spider-man game for iPhone, and the one for DS.

I counted Ultimate Spider-man as for all platforms.

And yup, the two movie games, but the Ultimate Armour was PS3 exclusive in Iron Man, while the 360 got Silver Centurion, which I felt was a gyp, but IM2 had it on both.

I actually really like the Iron Man games, they're not especially well made and the second looks like **** for the most part but they're fun time wasters.

According to wikipedia, Battle for NY also featured Kingpin, Sable, MJ, Ben Urich, Fury, and a cameo from the Ultimates (they appear at the end of the game I hear) also someone called Corona...

I didnt like it that much either. I liked a few levels and that was about it. I wished that Ultimate Spider-man was shorter then all the others too. My least favourite Spider-man was Noir, hes the coolest looking but he played like are really crappy version of Batman Arkham Asylum. My favourite level was an ultimate Spider-man level because it was pretty much exploration.

    New pic from Ultimate Spider-man.

The eyes are disappointingly not as large as in the comic and the whole proportions are more spectacular-esque.
